I was asleep for mine because my platlet count was too low.  No memory of the procedure but afterwards was pretty uncomfortable.  Take the stool softener because it helps.  Although sore try walking around the next day even if only a little bit because it helps.  You will be sore for a week or 2 but it isn't unbearable.  Pain meds made me constipated so I stopped taking by day 3.  Even with a c-section you will still bleed for the normal 6 weeks or so which I found to be worse than the scar being uncomfortable.

Well because it is actually scheduled, they will come in do your epidural then they will take you to surgery to prep you. They do not let anyone in the surgery room until they are ready to start so your in there about 15-20 minutes before they let your partner or family member in. Once they start cutting they will tell you everything they are doing. There will be a big blue sheet in front of you so you can't see anything. It isn't painful but you feel pressure and tugging. Once baby is out, they come and show you baby at your head and then the baby and your family member go to the nursery while they close you up.i fell asleep during that part so I don't know how long it took but I would say about 30 minutes. They bring you back to your regular room to recover but you will be pretty out of it with the meds. That evening they will make you get up and shower and walk around. It's pretty painful at first but just try to keep moving but take it easy. Try not to eat anything that will make you gassy for the next couple of days and take stool softener so you can use the bathroom easily. The best thing I had was my gowns...it hurt to have anything touching my stomach so I wore gowns for the first week. They also make special panties for section, they rid really low. Hope you have a speedy recovery! Rest as much as you can! Goodluck! You will meet your bundle SOON!
