Stress should not impact a home pregnancy test. Home pregnancy tests test for the presence of HCG, a hormone only made in detectable amounts during pregnancy (an ovarian cyst and menopause can also elevate levels).  If you were far enough along to feel flutters, you would most definately get a positive on a test if used correctly.

I would see your Dr. for bloodwork first.  This will rule out pregnancy (or perhaps confirm it).

I am the same age as you and have just started having irregular cycles.  This is not uncommon at this age.  Peri-Menopause can last up to 10 years and throw our cycles off.  It does sound unlikely that you are pregnant, however I would see your Dr.

You can take a home pregnancy test but it sounds like menopausal symtpms to me.
