AF post-pregnancy? implantation bleeding?

I got my first AF after the birth of my LO about 3 weeks ago. it lasted 8 days - much longer than normal, but I was not surprised from other posts I read. Me and my DH are TTC. Yesterday I was 9dpo and I started bleeding. More than spotting; like a light day of AF - and bright red. My cycles were always 28 days. This would be a 20 day cycle for me. Anyone who has had IB, how long did it last and what color was it? Or, are the first few cycles post-pregnancy shorter than normal?

Thanks so much!

Ahh, don't worry to much about it.  First few cycles post partum can be weird (or so I have been told).  I've only had one and it was strange as well.  Give it a few cycles (although no problem ttc now!) and I bet things go back to normal.  Good luck!!  I am hoping to follow you soon...Ryder is almost 5 months and I am finding myself wanting to ttc again.

I've never experienced implantation bleeding. I have had 3 kids so far and can tell you that your period, the length of your cycle and the length / heavyness of the flow can change slightly with each child and it usually takes a couple months for things to form a pattern.

I too just had my first AF post partum.  It was also longer then normal.  I am now having a bit of breakthrough bleeding mid cycle.  I do know for certain I am not pregnant, it is just spotting in my case.  I don't think this is overly uncommon as our bodies get back to normal.  Not saying you could not be pregnant, I certainly hope that you are, just offering another possible explanation.  Good luck to you!!

Mine was reddish/brown, kind of looked like old blood & had clots.  It last for 2 days straight, but never amounted to anything, and there never enough to need a tampon.  Towards the end though, the discharge looked like it was more red, so I just assumed that my period had begun, but then it abruptly stopped!
