Any advice would help

Hey ladies, I am new to this updated fourm. I am a member, but was away for a while. Anyway I am back and would like any advice. I got my BFP on 12/27/07 and comfirmed it with a blood test on 12/31/07. I did not ask the dr about my HCG #'s and did not want to call back and sound stupid just asking for them. My lmp was 11/18/07 so they said I was about 6wks EDD 8/27/08. Last week I was noticing a brownish discharge and when I called the dr, he told me not to worry as long as there was no blood or cramping, But I was reading a book and it said that a brownish discharge could be a miscarriage that has not expelled. Is that right? Wounldn't my dr know that? I am going crazy because I will not see my dr til 10wks which will be 1/24/08. I still feel pg but I have all types of "what if's" going through my head. My last pg was a second trimester loss at 20wks and my pg b-4 that was 9 years ago twins at 26wks. They are healthy and fine, but I have a history of preterm labor. How do I relax and trust that everything will be alright? My DH and I don't even want to tell anyone that we are pg because of my history. Any advice

Thank you all for your info and advice. It is so nice to know that i am not alone. All of your knowledge has put my mind at ease. I am going to see the prenatal nurse on Monday and I will address all of my concerns to her. I know my dr would not give me misinformation but when you're pg and scared all kinds of thoughts run through your head. Thanks guys, I have my first u/s on  Thurs 1/24/08, I know after that I will be able to relax more.

brownish discharge CAN indicate an issue, but more often than not it is just fine and in fact be "normal" for many women. I, in fact, have spotted w/ all three of my pregnancies. My daughter is now 9, my son 6 and I am 22w5d with #3. With my first I spotted brownish each time my period would have come and this lasted thru the first trimester. With my second I had bright red bleeding at 13 weeks, enough to send me to the ER. And now my 3rd I had major, major bleeding at 11 weeks where I thought certainly I was miscarrying (lots of clots that wouldn't stop) so I went to the ER. They did an ultrasound and there was the little guy dancing around! My spotting turned brownish the next day and then lasted for 3 weeks off and on. It has since ended and I've not had any more spotting.

So, morale of the story, hang in there, and I agree w/ meli...the doc works for YOU. Get the HCG test. You can call on a Saturday, explain you're having spotting and want the HCG test, they'll order it for you at a lab and then repeat it on Monday.

Best of luck to you!!! Keep us posted

I had brown spotting last week followed by bright red spotting. It lasted a day. The baby is fine, I saw the heart beat again today. Try not to freak out. The fact that you still have pregnancy symptoms is good. I would give your Doctor a call for reassurance.

I agree with melimeli about calling your doctor if that'll put your worries at ease.   But, spotting in the first trimester is fairly common.  I am 20 weeks pregnant. I had a scare at 8weeks..I woke up one morning and when I went to the bathroom, there was blood in the toilet..quite a lot and it wasn't brownish, it was RED. I panicked. I was sure I was miscarrying. I called a doctor's office and they told me that if it's not accompanied by cramping and if it stops by itself, there's nothing to worry about.  For the rest of that day, I had brownish discharge  quite often but the day after, it had stopped. I found an article online that put my mind at ease.. here it is..hope it helps. Read ''the embryo, burrowing in''    :)

I think you should call and ask for an hcg test... you are paying for insurance you shouldn't feel embarrassed the dr is really your employee... we need to take our health care into our own hands...  Tell you dr you have had a previous m/c and are very stressed and worried and would like a test to see if everything is ok..   if he doesn't understand switch dr.  and dont ever feel stupid for calling to ask if anything they should be impressed with your knowledge and dedication.
