Any one hear of ANTI-MULLERIAN HORMONE; AMH?

I hear they do this to test of the baby factory is closed.   Is this more reliable than FSH?  Is this a true indicator of low ovarian reserve???    I haven't heard a lot of discussion concerning this test and was wondering if any of you could shed some light on it as far as it being a true indicator of low ovarian reserve?

Hello...i do know what it basically is...but i  was specifically wondering if it was more reliable that FSH and if it changed monthly like the FSH can change.  And based on the results of this testing would you be able to tell if baby factory was closed for business.

A friend of mine told me that her infertility doctor basically ruled her out for IVF and everything.  She was told that her ovarian reserve was very very low based on this test and that they wouldn't even try IVF or IUI on her.   She'd gotten pregnant at 37 and she is now 40 (just turned) and apparently the RE said her only hope at this point was donor eggs.  I told her 40 seemed very young to me.  And I never heard of this test before the other day.

Apparently it's new.    I did get an answer from the nurse at my infertilty clinic.   She said the following:  "AMH testing is something I would love to see the physicians use.  It is supposed to be a pretty good indicator of “ovarian reserve”.  In other words how easy or difficult it would be for the ovaries to be stimulated to produce eggs.  We use the clomid challenge test.  The use of AMH testing is still in the early stages.  The results of the test are not likely to change drastically in any given month."

So based on my friend's results we probably thought the doctor was right.   It was such a new test that I hadn't heard of it.   I guess I should have posted it on the infertility forum.

Hi Yvette!
I've been watching this thread hoping someone could answer your question because I'd never heard of AMH before.  I looked it up out of curiosity and thought you might want to see this one website. It's kind of dry reading but it might be helpful for you.
