Anyone taking Prometrium(progesterone)while preg?

Hi,
I had a miscarriage in January and I am now pregnant again at 6 weeks. My doctor put me on Prometrium 200mg. Has anyone else had to take it too? When I looked it up there was a lot of info for women in menapause. Very confusing. Does anyone know what it to help you with if you are expecting?
Thanks- Hope

I did the prog. suppositories for the first 12 weeks, now I get the shot once a week.  I had 1 m/c prior to this preg.  I am finally coming off the shot at 34 weeks...3 more shots to go!  I don't think I had any side effects rom the supposiories.  The only real effects I havefrom the shots is a build up where they insert the shot- so it's like a bump and it's itchy... nothing like an itchy butt!!!

I was on progesterone 2x daily for the first 12 weeks.....I had 4 mc and the extra progesterone was to help until the placenta takes over.  So far so good for me....28w1d today!

I'm on Prometrium right now.  I'm 8w4d, and was instructed to continue taking it until 10 weeks.  I can't wait to get off it, it's just so messy.

I'm on 200 mg of Progesterone 3 x a day.  I'm not having the most glorious time with it...some um....irritating...side effects. It's to help your lining stay nice and thick to keep the baby from being m/c due to shedding of the lining.  I've had 2 early m/c which is why they gave it to me.  They told me I could go off it at 12 weeks.

I was on prometrium suppositories until my 8th week to enrich the environment.  Both my IVF dr and my OB said it can be discontinued after 8 wks when the placenta takes over.  I just went off of it last week and haven't noticed a difference.  The dr said it can also interfere with the blood test for nuchal transparency and d/s testing.  Good luck!

I am taking crinone, it is also a progesterone  type med. From what I have gathered it is to help the placenta do it's job until about the 12th week when it ( the placenta) will kick in and do it's job.. It is very common for women to be prescribed progesterone during pregnancy so don't worry, it's a good thing to help that baby grow and thrive, good luck!
