Chinese medicine raising fsh?

I was tested last year with an fsh of 14 - retested a month later and it went back down to 8.  I've waited a year for maternity insurance to start - and was retested at 14 fsh.  Went through 1 mos of Chinese medicine (accupuncture/herbs/wheatgrass) and retested to a scary 26.9 fsh!   I just turned 40, am single and trying this on my own.  Dr was willing to do donor sperm if my fsh was lower.  Now it's doubled.  Has anyone had the reverse effect with accupuncture/herbs?   Could I have hurt my syste by inter

I personally (and this is strictly my opinion) believe that you can do much of anything to either raise or lower your fsh.  I suppose it is possible that if you were mistreating your body, then you could raise your fsh...I'm not entirely certain how much environmental factors impact it.

Your fsh is simply an indicator of your ovarian reserve.  So as your reserve decreases, your fsh goes up.  According to my RE, trying to treat that is like treating a headache during a cold.  You can mask the headache with tylenol, but it doesn't actually get rid of the cold.  In other words, you cannot increase your ovarian reserve, and to the best of my knowledge (and keep in mind I am not a Dr., so again, this is based partially on opinion, partly on the questions I ask my OB & RE) you cannot really decrease it either.   Your born with your lifetime supply of eggs (that part is fact).

In other words, I doubt you did anything to impact it.  I'm sorry your having a tough time, and am glad to hear you are working with a Dr. who can help you achieve pregnancy. I wish you success!

I'm doing acupucture for fertility and it has worked wonders for me, I'm 44, I dont think it would have has the reverse effect on you its more likely that this has happened because of the year that has passed, keep up with it :)
