Lower Back Pain Constantly

Hi. I'm 35 and pregnant with my first child. A boy. I'm 22 weeks. Just went to the succor in Tuesday and everything was great. Since this morning I've been having constant lower back pain. It comes in waves. I have no discharge or spotting. The pain is concentrated in my back. No pelvic pressure either. Should I call my doctor or is this normal?

If it matters I'm plus size though I've lost a lot if weight. He gains and I lose. I haven'tbeen able to find a belly band in my size and I need a maternity pillow.

Thanks in advance.

The only thing that works me is that you say it comes in waves. If you mean it's coming in a sequence you should go get checked because that could be a sign of preterm labor. If you mean the back pain comes and goes with no pattern, I would say it's the baby's position. Drink lots of water, take 2 tylenol, a warm bath for 30 minutes, & rest on your left side. If none of these work call your doctor.

I have the same pain... since 25 weeks. 30 weeks now. I swear, had if I had not already been a psychotherapist for my career, I would have chosen to go to school for business, and had a store that catered to plus-sized pregnant women! I dont understand the logic of leaving 'us' out. Do they think plus-sized women could not possibly find a male, and therefore we'd never become pregnant?
Anyways, thank-you for the idea of asking our obgyns to write a script at a medical store for the belly bands. I would have never thought of that!
Also, fyi, I had the most luck of finding clothing and a winter jacket at Old Navy. The best part is that all the styles are the same, whether you are an extra small or a 2x, so you are not forced to pick from a few 'grandma' looking clothes from the back of a maternity store like your a leper (like Motherhood.) Much better prices, too!
I do agree on just using regular pillows, also. They work fine, in a pinch. Otherwise, the 'C' pillow my husband bought me for Christmas (my fav present... lol) was about $55. Not too bad for something you might use daily.
Btw, I use a heating pad on my lower back if my back hurts to much.
Good luck!

Congratulations on your first pregnancy.  Unfortunately the pain is normal :-( . I'm a super sized plus woman whose on the second pregnancy (back2back) and my back was/is like that in both pregnancies even though I lost 83lbs the first ppregnancy and so far at 35.3wks I've lost 53lbs due to hyperemesis, so, I think the pain just comes with the pregnancy territory unfortunately.  As for a belly band, have your ob to write you a prescription for one to get it from a medical supply store where they can accommodate any woman's size. Also, if insurance won't cover ot right now, they'll definitly cover it if you request one while in the hospital for delivery. I can't recall what store but someone had maternity pillows on sale today but I found that my normal bed pilows gave me the same assistance, so, I'd save that money for baby and just use traditional pillows you already have at home to prop up on but ultimately you may want to get the maternity pillow as your last option.

Congrats again, hang in there and best wishes.
