As long as you are in a well ventilated area, you take frequent breaks to get fresh air and you don't over exert yourself it should be fine. Just don't go huffing spray paint :)
I also have to laugh at AnnieBrookes reply...that's hilarious.
I am on my third pregnancy -all high risk and bed rest - but for some reason I feel each time I need to paint the whole house - and my previous two are fine - this one I do not expect any problems... usually people who tell me not to paint are of an older generation and if you asked them if you should paint even while not pregnant - chances are they would say no as well!!! :) I am sure all is fine!!! I love the first response - that is soo funny!
I always wore a mask when I helped my dh paint. We too opened all the windows. But I am such a worry I did not paint often.
I would feel most comfortable with saying I am sure your baby is perfectly fine!!!!!
Hi there. I am a paint chemist. Was it oil-based paint or latex/water-based/acrylic type paint? In gereral we advise pregnant women to steer clear of using any solvents during pregnancy but water-based paints aren't known to cause any problems. When asked specifically I always say not to paint during pregnancy just to ensure our company doesn't give assurances that aren't based in research etc.
Take care. Many many pregnant women are involved in painting the baby's room and it hasn't caused an epidemic of problems.
Not true. My high-risk specialist said the only way painting a room when pregnant is dangerous for the baby is if you stick your head in the bucket of paint.
