working out

Before I got pregnant I was working out 4x a week pretty hard core, I had an awesome trainer. Anyway now I'm scared of over doing it so when  I work out I barely break a sweat. Anyone else work out that's pregnant? Also I'm wondering if its ok to do squats with light weight of course? Any feedback would be appreciated!

My midwife said it is fine to carry on with my routine, but be careful not to get out of breath because the baby needs oxygen too. You should still be able to hold a conversation while you are doing whatever you are doing

My cousin did crossfit until the day she delivered and she has a peefectly healthy baby. She was super harcore. Talk to your doctor,  but I'm pretty sure as long as you were doing it before, you can co tinue.

Working out is fine!! Unless your doc says other wise. I worked out very hard before this pregnancy! However I have had to tone it down a little. I still lift light weights and have had to reach out and try some new things because I was finding the old exercises hard to do. I joined Pilates, because I clearly couldn't spend so much time on my abdominals! And I found it helped a lot for back aches and si pain. Cardio is a lot harder to do pregnant! You want to watch for all those things the woman before me said.. I still workout laying on my back for certain moves and it's fine! As long as you listen to your body!!! I also do squats, just don't over do it and watch your form, also remember for every workout you need to replace those calories you Burn!!! So eat clean

Honestly, you know you're body better than anyone and your baby is pretty well protected. A couple of things to watch for- balance, loose joints and dehydration.
as you gain weight it changes your center of gravity and can alter your "fancy foot work" so to speak. So be more surefooted than usual.
your body also creates relaxin which can make joints and musclee more susceptible to injury if tweaked the wrong way. Pulled abs are pretty common as well as hip pain.
it is super easy to get dehydrated and you want to keep fluids up even more so, so that you dont get dizzy or weak.
all in all, if you worked out hard before, you can typically continue the same routine with it taken down a notch. I feel like my body kinda tells me when to chill out somewhere around the 2nd trimester anyway. So just have to listen to you body and dont ignore anything!
Btw- I teach high school phys ed and just played a pretty intense game of baseball last week with my class and I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. This is my 5th and I've always worked out. Just a little slower right now ;)
