My RE said clomid thins your lining too much so she only uses femara. We went the femara route and it worked first try.I am now 10w2d. I am 36. I also dont think higher than normal fsh alone is a good indicator of egg quality. You need an fsh test along with AMH, estrogen, progesterone, to get a true picture of that. (Mine was 11.4 when we first started TTC and I had endometriosis surgery and it went down to 5.5.) So what I mean is there are other factors that can make your fsh go up or down. Anyway, hope some of this helped good luck to you.
High FSH can mean lower quality eggs and clomid supposed to improve egg quality. Sounds like a reasonable course of action.
I know several ladies who had healthy babies with fsh above 10 so your level sounds good. I heard that anything below 10 is considered a good level.
Good luck!
