Nicholas Rowan was born Nov 13. Im FINALLY a MOM!

For those of you who didnt know already....
Nicholas was born 11/13 at 12:35pm he was 7lbs 14oz and 21 in long.  Labor was about 17 hours and I slept thru most of it. When I dialated to 6 I went for the epidural....and it never took....long story. The pain was rough - but I will say this....there was an "end to the means" which helped me manage the pain. But I now understand why they call it "labor". His oxygen and heart rate kept falling randomly and my labor sort of "stalled" the doctor kept insisting to do a C-section but I kept asking him (and my nurse) to wait "one more hour" and 3 hours later....I progressed just fine! And when it came time to push it was 3 real good ones over 2 contractions and my son was here. They placed him on my belly and he cried and my DH and I cried til it hurt.  This is our first born after 2 losses. We did skin to skin after he was cleaned up and he breastfed right after. It was so so special.......His cry is the SWEETEST sound Ive ever heard.  He did end up w/a fractured clavical but its very common and it really doesnt seem to bother him in the slightest. I was very lucky for a vaginal birth I had no tears or damage....I feel lucky. And Ive got some post pardom issues....high blood pressure, feet/ankle swelling, migraines.  Its been a month now and most of my post pardom issues are resolved. I am now on high blood pressure medication.  I really hope that they take me off it. I did have a post pardom "cry baby" day lol.  It was a total hormone crash....I even told my DH..."Im crying and I dont know why"....he just said OK and went on to the kitchen....I love that man! LOL

The funny thing about labor pain to me is I personally dont understand how women scream thru the pain.  I felt like I needed every ounce of energy to breathe thru the contractions and focus on getting him out. I needed all my strength and screaming took too much from me. There were 2 women on my wing going natural screaming thru their delivery....that kind of put me in awe.

If God has it in my plan I would like one more child. I was so blessed during my pregnancy to find this site and get all the love and support. I truly feel it helped keep my sane and healthy during my pregnancy. And my birth was almost a spiritual event for me and I could do it again. Our lives have certainly changed but all for the GOOD! Now if I can get my son to stop confusing his days and nights!  :-) Ive posted pics ladies....enjoy!

I hope your blood pressure issues are soon resolved.  This happened to my cousin's wife when she had both her children in her '20s!

Congratulations! That's so exciting! He is a gorgeous baby. And you're right about the screaming...I never quite got that, either. Of course, I'm not really a screamer about *anything - not when I'm mad, not during earth-shattering sex, not when I'm excited - so I guess that might be why. LOL. Anyway...congrats again and thank you for sharing!

Thanks for posting your birth story - I so love reading these!!  Also congrats on your baby & I'm glad your post-partum issues have been resolved.  I too had major swelling in my legs & was on some heavy duty meds to reduce the swelling which thank God worked.

I loved too what you wrote about your baby's first cries and I totally agree!! - jen
