Failed first cycle of Clomid 50

Hi! I am new to this community. TTc for 1 year. I used OPK for 6 mo but no pregnancy. My obgyn put me on Clomid 50 mg cd5-cd9 after blood test came normal and HSG . Had late ovulation at cd17 past clomid. Had nausea, mood swings, food cravings and abdominal cramps. I was hoping to be pregnant sice i was 3 days past due. But 5 hours ago got my usual monthly period. My doctor did not do ff up test  after Clomid. Should I have ask for an ultrasound or a progesterone level test?  Why not all MD have a protocol if they put patient's on Clomid?

I don't get any pain from Clomid.  I haven't really noticed any side effects, except being in the got side.
I am still waiting for the results from my last miscarriage Dec.14.  I had an emergency DNC so we could do genetic testing and see what is going wrong.
Don't give up!  I never thought I would ever be able to get pregnant and now it has happened twice.  I am bound to have a sucessful pregnancy one of these times.

Thank you for your comment. I like your spirit and it made me want to do more to make my pregnancy happen. The O pain I had when on Clomid was really excruciating. I thought I will past out at work. I took Tylenol and it helped some. But with 150 mg Clomid, will the pain be more? Did the docs tell you why the miscarriages?

I take 150 clomid each cycle.  Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right dose for you.  The only tests my OBGYN does on me is a 21 ovulation blood test.
I was on Clomid for about 6 months before I got pregnant (miscarriage) and then 2 months (miscarriage).  Don't give up.  Keep on trying and hopefully one day everything will work out and you will be pregnant.
We are going to try again in a couple of months.  Giving my ovaries and body a rest and going to see a fertility specialist in a couple of weeks.

Not all Dr.'s do a lot of follow up with the low dose of clomid.  Mine never did either.  The biggest problem with clomid is over stimulation of the ovaries, and that tends to be more of a risk at higher doses.  So no follow up is not uncommon at 50mg.  The late ovulation and period is also very common, as are the symptoms you experienced.

It's only been one cycle, so nothing to worry about.  All clomid really does is sort of force ovulation, but it is no guarantee that the sperm will get where it needs to go.  It can still take several months.

Best of luck to you!
