Fetal Movement

Hi girls-

I am currently 19w5d pregnant with our first-a little boy.  I have not yet been able to feel him move.  When was the first time you ladies felt your babies move?

Thanks for the help!

we thoroughly enjoyed our 20wk ultrasound-- amazing to see that there was now what looks like a fully-formed little person in there. we were both blown away.
enjoy that! :)

Just wait.  In a few weeks your belly will be "dancing".  That's how we refer to mine when he is so squirmy that my whole belly is shifting around.  It's so much fun to watch.  I did find that when I first felt movement/flutters, DH couldn't really feel it.  I could on the inside, but it took a bit of time before DH could really tell.  It was really only 3 or 4 weeks ago, so 28 - 30 weeks.  Mind you, I do have an anterior placenta, so it might happen faster for you.  Enjoy these last weeks of sleeping before little legs start hitting you in the ribs in the middle of the night..lol!

Thanks for your comment!  I do know my placenta is not anterior, so that is good.  I just can't wait to feel him!  Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much!  I am just so anxious, as is DH.  He keeps his hand on my belly sometimes for 10 minutes thinking he will feel something!

Yeah, I didn't really for SURE feel my baby til about 20 weeks and even then, I'd have thought it was gas or food digesting, if someone hadn't told me that was how it would feel!

By 24 weeks, I'm now feeling him a lot. However, if the placenta is anterior, then I've read it could even be up to 26 weeks til you clearly feel movements!

I started to feel some movement around the 19 week mark...I was not sure it was the baby as it would happen like maybe 2x day. After a few weeks, I was able to feel it more frequently in spurts. Now at 23 weeks, I am feeling it frequently at random times during the day - more specifically when I get into bed at night - baby seems to wake up and wanna play. At 23 weeks I have also been able to start to see the kicks from the outside and feel it well with my hand on the outside. This is not my first preg but this is the furthest I have been in a preg due to past MC's. I am not a big girl, and I think the bigger you are the longer it will take to feel it (so I have heard). I have also heard that sometimes your placenta can be in front of baby causing you not to feel it as much as the placenta is blocking it. I would be patient though - the time will come and it will be amazing when it does. I have a friend who is 21 weeks and she is a bigger girl and she is just starting to feel the bubble feeling. Hope this helps.

I think I first felt him around 19 weeks or so, but it could have been gas...lol.  It was so faint I'm not certain.  It won't be long now until you start feeling strong movements, but don't worry now, your perfectly normal.  Good luck!

I am almost 21 and felt bubbles (gas-like) but other than that...nada.
My sister NEVER felt my nephew at all.

It's very normal not to feel movement yet, especially with your first. With my first I didn't start feeling flutters until around 20-21 weeks and then consistent movement started around 24 weeks. Try not to worry too much, you'll be feeling your little man soon. :)
