39w appointment - 4cm dilated 80% effaced
Hey ladies! Ok, so update from my appointment this morning....I'm already 4cm dilated and 80% effaced! How long could it be for me to go into labor??...I already have almost half the job done! Anyone have any idea?

I tell you what to do to put yourself in labor. It worked for me and it in the book "What to Expect when You're Expecting" but they tell you not to do it until you're past your due date.
1. Get in the tub with the water as hot as you can get it (not too too hot)
2. Take a wash cloth and drap it over one of your breast, submerge one breast at a time into the water and stimulate your breast (yes, play with them, just the nipple area) for 15 minutes on each side for one solid hour
3. So 15 on the right breast, then 15 on the left breast and repeat again for 1 hour
Your breast holds Pitocin in them and when you stimulate them and using the wash cloth it is releasing the Pitocin into your system. This is like inducing yourself so your contractions will be much stronger, but if this is your first you won't know the difference anyways.
Good luck and believe me, it is proven to work. It worked for me and 6 other people that I told that did it also.

I sure hope it's gonna be easy..and quick!! It seems I'm trying everything to get labor going...but nothing. :( I've cleaned my whole house, been bding with dh everyday..don't really know what to do next. My ob said if I make it to my next appointment on Tuesday that I'm really not lucky.. Now, I'm thinking what, I'll go in, she'll check me and I'll be 5cm dilated??? How dilated can you get without being in labor?!?!
Hey, Melanie, you'll probably just cough and be in labor!! So start coughing away - who knows, maybe the baby will pop out quicker! Gosh, you must be sooooo ready to get this over with & have that baby in your arms. Good luck & keep us posted - jen
Yeah, my dh and I have been bding for like 7 days straight now! I'm sure I don't have to tell you that he's pretty happy these days! Today, my ob played with my cervix a lil' trying to activate things...she told me I was going to bleed today. After bding earlier tonight, there was quite a bit of blood, brown blood...I guess he hit my cervix a few times ;) ..hopefully, that'll trigger something too. I'm soooo ready to have this baby!
The next day! God I hope it's tomorrow! I'm scared to death but at the same time, I can't wait for my baby boy to get here... Can you tell me what your contractions felt like...thanks Meli!
wow, I'm right behind you at 39 weeks tomorrow, but I'm not even dilated yet! I'm "softening" still.....but I'm also going in on Thursday for induction due to gestational diabetes. I just hope I start to do something on my own or at least that the cervadil will help before the petocin so I don't have to stop on Friday and start over again on Saturday!

I was in labor, steady contractions when they did my c-section and I was only 1cm. I don't seen to dialate without lots of contractions to go with it. Hmmm. It does seem like half the job is done already! Nice.
OMG.-. when I was 80 effaced adn 2cm the dr said it will probably be this week.. I gave birth the next day!!! good luck!!! she did say if not she would strip my membranes at the next appointment... are you going natural or c? I forget.. good luck any minute now!!! I hope you are ready!!!
I sure hope it's gonna be this week! I'm trying not to get my hopes up because last Tuesday, I was at 3cm, 50% effaced..I was sure it was gonna be last week...now, a week later, still no baby. But at least, things are progressing..1 cm dilated more and I'm more effaced than last week. Oh gosh, get out baby, get out!!!! lol
