Funny question about animals

Just curious - Does anyone have pets? If so are they acting strange now that you are pregnant or getting close to birth?

I ask because my cat will not leave my side, not even to eat. Everywhere I go she needs to be there not just near me but touching me. Its very strange, she even goes to the bathroom with me and sits there staring. I found out today that I am having real contractions (just not close enough to go) and I am 2 cm and I wonder if my odd little feline friend knew all this before I did.

My cats loved how warm I was when I was pregnant.  They snuggled up and slept on me as much as they could.  After the baby came, one of the two cats took a look and his feet made backward-bicycling motions and out he went, would not come NEAR the baby or even be in the house with him.  The other was darned if she was going to lose her hard-earned right to sleep in the house, so she glared at me and dared me to do anything about it and laid down on my bed with me and the baby the day we got home from the hospital.  (Remaining always a magic margin of about 4 feet out from the baby, her perceived zone of safety from his grasp, probably.)  We're in the country so the cats have a building where they can sleep, and the backwards-bicycling cat (who used to sleep with us every night) has taken himself out to sleep there probably until my son goes off to college.  But the stubborn cat who wouldn't leave the house just because I brought in a little interloper is still in sleeping most nights with us.  My son loves her.  The feeling is not mutual.  But she does clearly see the value in having a toddler in the house who knows how to feed her.  I have a photo of the two of them eating together at a little table of my son's.

We had a dog that was a daddy's girl.  She would even try to push me off the couch.   Both times when I was pregnant she became very affectionate towards me and the day before I delivered both babies she would not leave my side.  She carried on and on barking when I would go into the bathroom and shut the door.  As soon as I delivered she was back to being a daddys girl.

I always swear that our dog...lab mix...knows when I'm pregnant.  Whenever I lay down, she is always right there....lays down and struggles right into me.  As if she knows there is another baby to protect around here...lol.  The strangest part is....she has always been a "daddy's girl"....follows DH around relentlessly....but not when mommy is expecting!

I think that one my cats feels something: Minou loves to come sleep on my lap in the evening, and to rest his head on my belly. And baby likes to kick right under Minou's head!

That's so funny you mentioned that...we have 2 Dachschunds (female sisters) the older one Molly, was my Mother hen my entire pregnancy (both pregnancies too).  Whenever I got up or walked into another room, she was right behind me, when I went to bed she got in right beside me....our other dog Lucy could have cared less...but Molly was right up my A@@!  It was funny!  Dogs have a sixth sense of things...

I have two cats and they stick pretty close these days.  One of them even tries to push his way through the bedroom door (our bedroom is a fur free zone!!).  I do think they know, and in my case, I think they are a bit jealous as well.  They are two pampered and spoiled felines...lol.

My one cat has been on me since I got pregnant -- just before I found out.  I'm 36 weeks and my other cat, who's not that affectionate has started to sit on me -- even my husband commented, so I wonder if it means that I'm getting close (well obviously, but we'll see what happens in the next few weeks).  My dogs too are way more protective and have started to show separation anxiety!  Not a problem one wants to deal with when a baby's on the way!  Ah well, it should be interesting.
