First time for a c-section, what should I expect for recovery? I have a busy 3 year old boy and husband away at work days after delivery!

God the reality of it all! Crikey. Thanks for the tip about the support belt

I second the support belt, but do not rely on it too much or else you wI'll make it extremely difficult to get your an muscles back. If they can take the staples out before you leave the hospital,  even better.  Use a pillow over your stomach if you have to cough and even laugh. No weight except the baby for the first while...and no sex til dr tells you it's ok. Once your closer to the 6 weeks heal tome, you'll feel fine and want to go back to normal but it could cause more issues.

No heavy lifting but I remember mine to be totally fine! In fact the healing time was faster than the vontuse delivery I had which was disastrous! Just follow docs orders and stay a bit quiet. The 3 year old will cope ;) just make it a fun game of 'inside time' lol set up a hut with all the lounge furniture for him/her that should keep your 3 year old distracted for a few days! Get a support belt off the internet I have a friend that used one her scar healed twice as fast so I will be getting one this time

I had a c section with my first due to being breech. As soon as u can feel ur legs get up and walk. The more u walk the faster u heal. I only took pain meds the 1st day. After that I had ibuprofen. It worked great. Like said up above...no heavy lifting. My daughter will be 2 years old by the time this baby is here so I'm nervous too how to take care of her with another c section. I'm hoping I can try for a vbac. Hopefully this baby will be in the right position! Good luck! U will be just fine!

I've had 2 and I thought my first one was harder but I wasn't used to no stomach muscles. Take your meds. You think you feel fine and then the pain knocks you down again. Especially taking care of other little ones too. If help is offered say yes and ask for help as well. Don't over do it but walking is good to get your body back. Too much resting and your recovery takes even longer. Obviously no crazy lifting or exercising. Just normal daily duties and some walking.

I would plan on scheduling some help for the first few days at home.  Getting up and down will be sore and lifting 10 lbs or more is a no-no.  You will be tired and the pain meds me constipated so I quite taking them after day 2.  After a couple days you will start to feel better but you will want to avoid heavy (25 lbs) lifting for a couple weeks.

The first few days after I got home were the worst of it but they weren't really bad. Mild to moderate abdominal pain. I had a 20 month old with my second c-section. Hardest part is not doing too much, you'll really show down healing if you push it. Try to stick to the restrictions your Dr gives as much as possible. I know it's hard, trust me but Dr does know best.
