How did you treat a cold....

I'm 15 weeks and I've got a cold: cough, sore throght, runny nose...you name it, I've got it.
Just wanted to see if anyone has any advise or tips of how to treat it since we can't take any of the usual meds.  And how long did it take for the cold to go away. So far I've been drinking buckets and buckets of tea, sniffing garlic, and taking hot showers.

Thanks for all of your advice, I will call OB today or I'll see him tomorrow.  One other concern that I have, is whether my coughing bothers my babies since every time I cough they my belly bounces.  I hope they are ok in there.  Can't wait to see them at tomorrow's appt.

Back twenty years ago my doctors that I had were a hindu couple that were a husband and wife practice and they were so old school they would not give me a darn thing for a cold...NADA!!!
Now, my doc that I have is super cool and I wish I could have had him way back!  I know times have changed and more meds are being preggy approved so I know that I have more options for a cold and allergy.  Claritin and Zertex are a two that I know of being safe.

There are 2 different kinds of Sudafed now, one you can get off the shelf and one you have to get from behind the pharmacy counter. My doctor said not to use the one off the shelf and only the one from behind the pharmacy counter. The ingredients are different.

Both my RE and my OB said taking the plain red Sudafed tablet was OK....I really helps with being "clogged."  I have always taken this anyway with sinus difficulties and it has worked.  I read that colds last longer when pg. than when not.....

Sorry you have a cold, I was really sick in March. Check with your doctor for the over the counter medicines he/she recommends, and if doctor will allow using Vicks Vapor Rub. Otherwise, drink lots of liquids, chicken noodle soup, get lots of rest, run a vaporizer in your room at night, try to limit dairy products. Good luck.
