how old is too old to hope?

Hi there.  Been feeling down with the whole process recently.  I turned 40 last August, my fiance is 51.  So far, luck doesn't seem to be with us.  My cycles have always been fairly regular my whole life, until perhaps the last nine months or so now.  They seem to be sporadic,  i might bleed twice on one month, or go 34 days in between.  I still get rather extreme pms (always) have, and i have endometriosis.  I have no children as of yet.  I had an ectopic 4 years ago, and i terminated a pregnancy when i was just 20.  Long story, and im not here to debate the pro life vs pro choice thing, so just leave it.  We don't think the issue is him.  He has 7 children in the philippines.  I am however obese, so that could be an issue.  I guess the question is am i just hoping for too much here?  Have i just waited to long and my chance has passed me by?

Talk to your dr!  There could be a problem with you, your husband, or both.  There are many causes of infertility that can be treated.  No use in speculating, make an appointment and get appropriate tests run so the best course of action can be taken.

Here's something I found. I haven't had regular cycles since my first was born. Diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Im told its difficult to become pregnant with that. But my second and third child were both conceived when I went back to work at jobs that didn't allow for sitting. Lots of standing and moving. I would lose weight and get pregnant.
The doctors say I'm morbidly obese because of their stupid BMI chart yet before I got pregnant I was a size 16.

You can also buy ovulation tests from the dollar store which may help you predict when you ovulate.

Talk to your doc and start a fitness/healthier eating plan (if you have not already). I find that when you feel healthy, you think healthy, and more doors, including sometimes baby having, open up to you. Good luck!

i started trying  when i got married at age of 26, after trying for an year consulted doctors who says i shld continue trying naturally as there seemed no issue, it was at 30 when i started fertility treatment and they diagnosed anti bodies issue with hubby and i conceived via ICSi when i was 31. i have daughter who is going to be six and i conveived now naturally which is surprise as i am 37now.  bottom line is i dont think its the age factor that matters but seek fertility treatment i hope you will conceive with the such advance treatments available these days.

I think that is something only a dr can tell you.  I am 35 I also have endometriosis, and didn't think I could still get pregnant. My endometriosis seemed to have gotten worse over the past 11years since my youngest was born.  yet here I am.  You are older than me, and only you know your body, talk to your dr,you never know what can happen.  I hope the best for you.
