I am going to ask my RE for Chlomid now

I have been trying to conceive since September and have only ovulated once... and nothing happened in November due to a big ovarian cyst. A shot of progesterone shrunk the cyst and my period came after being delayed almost a week. Now it is December.. I know I am under stress due to the holidays and the TTC stuff,  but  I should have ovulated over the weekend and all the OPKS are neg,, and I am on day 18. So Im assuming it's not going to happen. I have an appt with RE in the morning and he may do an u/s to see if another cyst has formed. I am prone to ovarian cysts. My blood work is ok and RE sees no other issues. He is leary about prescribing Chlomid since he says I havent been trying long enough. Hello!!! Im not ovulating AGAIN. I totally wish I could do IVF and not have to deal with the cysts and whether or not Im going to ovulate, but I dont have the money for IVF right now. Under what circumstances did your RE prescribe Chlomid?

Well I saw his NP this mrng since Dr is on vac. She did an ultrasound and she says my one ovary has lots of follicles and is going to be doing something..perhaps a late ovulation or prepping for another cyst. My lining is a little thick so she says that's a good sign. But if period is late again, come in and they will check for a cyst and give me another shot of progesterone. Also, she called Dr on his cell. He said not to give me anything rite now and he thinks due to my age (37) I cud be just skipping some cycles and he says he wants to do IUI and speak to me when he gets back. He also told the nurse he knows I'm single and I need to pay for donor sperm, but he seems to want to work with me on his prices. So, I'm going to prbly just do an IUI in Jan and we'll take it from there. Also. I am going to Vegas and seeing about enrolling in an IVF study and I am hoping they can accept me. My RE thinks IVF is not necessary, and he basically wants me to consider other options. So I was upset when I left his office. But I can see what he's saying too.  Well, Merry Christmas everyone.

I took chlomid for a few cycles due to recurrent miscarriage.  My OB said that it increases progesterone and there is some evidence that it can help prevent miscarriage.  Unfortunately I was one of those that chlomid actually prevented conception, so it didn't work for me.

Now, I am not 100% certain of this, but I believe that one of the problems with chlomid may be that it increases the chance of cysts.  That's why being monitored while on it is so important.  So in your case it may not be the best choice, but there are other meds that may work.

BTW...not having had a positive opk doesn't mean you didn't ovulate..just that you didn't catch the surge.

Good luck!
