When is a good time to tell your boss your pregnant

Ladies, for those of you who work when do you think is the best time to tell your boss that your pregnant? I am 9 weeks but have not had any morning sickness so its business as usual at work..well apart from the tirednss and nauseous feeling I get on and off but noone has noticed anything... apart I am leaving a bit earlier than usual...
Just curious.. Thanks! Tivey

thanks ladies for the great advice. I think I am going to wait a few weeks longer just keep it my little secret. I work for a big international organisation and I don't work closely with my boss so I think I am ok on that front. I say that but I look 5 months pregnant now with my big bloated belly and huge boobs so maybe I should come clean ...:)

I really think it depends on your relationship with your boss.  In my case, I have a great relationship with her, and well, the whole organization knows I am actively trying (they are cheering me on!!!).  So in all honesty I would probably tell them from day 1. It's a personal decision though, and no matter what you decide, I wish you all the best!!

It also depends on your job. If it's a desk job or a department store job I would wait until about the 12th week at least. If it involves chemicals such as paint,or construction work,I would tell them right away.
I own a small renovation business so I know the dangers involved. I put myself on light duty by the 4th month because I couldn't keep my balance on the ladder lol.
I also work with hazardous material...so I didn't go to any of the sites where we were using any chemicals, oil paints,glue,etc...
If you have a job that requires heavy lifting now would be a good time to tell,as you don't want to take any risks...they could put you on light duty.

This topic was brought up not too long ago, and everyone has a different view.  But, I think it depends first of all on the relationship you have with your boss and coworkers.  If you are comfortable and can discuss personal issues openly, than it's your call.  Some women choose to wait til after the 1st trimester just to make sure the pregnancy continues going well.  Good luck!

I told mine at 7wks but we are in and out of each others offices all the time I was having complications and was told I might miscarry so I wanted him to be aware that I might need to be gone for a few days unexplicably. Two of my close co-workers know cause they knew we were trying but the rest I haven't told (didn't miscarry). I think it depends on your boss, and your relationship with them.
Good Luck,
J
