Let's talk names...

I am having more trouble with names then ever before this time!  I have one favorite (which unfortunately my mom hates!) and several that I'm ok with...  Tell me what you guys think and what names you are thinking of...

Sophia Ann

Samantha  Ann

Elizabeth Ann (nickname Lilly)  or Does Lilly even work with Elizabeth? Maybe just name her Lilly?

Emily Ann (nickname Millie) is it wrong to just name her Millie? This is a real nickname, have heard of someone with this.

I love the namse Lilly, and Sophia. And I have an Emily and a Sam (Samuel)  so naturally I love those as well. I agree with the others, only you and your partner's opinions matter. I've heard Millie as a nickname for Amilia and Millicent but it would work with Emily as well. We had chosen Chloe for this baby but then we found out she was a he. Good Luck.

I don't have think there is anything wrong with naming a formal name and calling a different nickname (such as Elizabeth nicknamed Lily.)  Most of the teenagers I know are called some nickname entirely different than their parents planned, including "Spike" (a girl whose real name is Kerry) and Joe, whose real name is Myron (wonder why he changed it?) and I know a Carson that everyone calls Kit.  Go with whatever combo you like, and your child will either grow into it well, or will change it himself or herself.  :)

We kept our daughter's name a secret until she was born precisely because we didn't want to hear anyone else's opinion.  DH and I looked through a book of baby names separately and each made a list.  We compared the list and "Eliza" was on both, so that's her name... and if anyone doesn't like it, they're polite enough to keep it to themselves.
Now we're expecting our second daughter, and we're going to tell everyone the name beforehand.  After 2+ years of receiving and shrugging off all kinds of criticism about my parenting, I'm much tougher about it.  "Oh, you hate that name?  Good, because we picked it just to annoy you."  ;-)
Personally, I love the name "Lilly" but DH's last name is Leigh so that was impossible.  If you like "Millie" you could also name her "Melissa" and call her Millie.

I love the name Samantha. I always wanted to name our daughter that. But after having 3 boys first when we finally had a girl it just didnt seem right. I dont know if you know what I mean or not, lol. But I vote Samantha. I have always liked the nickname Sam:~)

Losing...

I agree completely!  I already told my mom to start getting used to the name.  I do like to have options though ... that way when she's born I can say, she's definetely a ____!

I agree with you about Elizabeth, I'm grasping actually...  :)

Funny thing is I don't like Emily all that much, but love millie!

Sophia Ann is by far my favorite!

Well I learned a long time ago that the only opinions that TRULY count when naming a baby are yours and your partners.  I've told my mom on numerous occasions that I appreciate her feedback but it's not her kid and she's stuck with whatever WE decide to name him/her.

I like Emily Ann but don't realy care for millie.

I don't think lily goes well with Elizabeth.

Samantha Ann I don't think flows right

Sophia Ann is pretty.
