Well, I was tested about a month after a miscarriage. I had lost my baby at 10 wks and I was trying to do everything I could to get my health/diet/body primed to kick out some good eggs. :)
So, I was put on the progesterone cream before I actually conceived, and then I just stayed on it at a lower dosage for most of my 1st trimester. I don't know if it was the key or not, because I had also made numerous other *major* changes to my diet and exercise between pregnancies. But because I was also found to be hypothyroid, I strongly suspect that a low-functioning hormonal system was a factor, and that the progesterone cream did help.
Thanks for the positive thoughts! Having a m/c makes the next pregnancy difficult to be too excited....sometimes I am just so worried....Dr. says to think positive thoughts....guess that's all I can do! Thanks again!
Thanks for the encouraging news! They never really told me that the cause of the m/c was low progesterone as they never checked it early enough. However, with this pregnancy, I requested it be checked. I'm praying that it works....
May I ask how far along you were when they gave you the cream? Now my biggest worry is that they caught it in time....I do have to say that after just a few days of being on the prog. supplements, I'm feeling more "pregnant"....as strange as that may sound....So, we have our fingers crossed.
I had my progesterone tested after a m/c and it came up low as well. I was on a progesterone cream for the first trimester of my current pregnancy and I'm now at 23 weeks. I hear the supplements are even more effective! If your miscarriage was due to your low progesterone, then being on the supplements will give you great odds of having a good outcome this time. There is also a lot you can do with diet and acupuncture to help regulate your endocrine system.
It's not uncommon to test with low progesterone for us "older" moms to be. Many of us here, myself included, have taken progesterone supplements during our first trimester. Sadly, many of us, again myself included, have had 1 or more miscarriage, then gone on to have successful healthy pregnancies. I hope that helps a little bit. I know how scary it is to be pregnant after losses, but all you can do is take it day by day, and know that having had a miscarriage does not increase your odds of another loss at all. Welcome, and congrats to you!!
