Most IVF doctors won't do gender selection just because someone wants one or the other.  It's frowned upon to do it for that reason, which means you're not getting the top IVF doctor if you try it.  It can be done to avoid life-threatening gender-linked disease.

There is some theory that if you clock the woman's ovulation for a few months and get it down as exactly as possible, you can have sex three or more days before the ovulation is expected but not after that.  The fast-swimming male sperm will die in a couple of days and leave only the slower-swimming but longer-living female sperm.  It's not absolute and besides, you have to know when the woman is likely to ovulate (always a guess even with ovulation test kits and reliable data from previous months).  But given that there is no other way, it might be worth a shot.

Good luck, and I hope you are ready to be happy with whatever you get.

I second Spades comments.  The only way to ensure gender is to go through a form of IVF (or perhaps IUI) where they actually seperate the sperm to ensure the gender.  Very expensive procedure though.  If you are absolutely set on a girl, I would pursue adoption vs. pregnancy.

Also, please note that there is no Dr. on this forum.  This is a community of everyday people who have an interest in issues around pregnancy over the age of 35.

Good luck to you.

There is no good or reliable way to select gender of your baby.
