Is this normal? Pregnancy levels all over the place then decreased. No vitals taken or pelvic exam as of yet?

6 weeks pregnant...with mild intermittent spotting but no pain. My levels at first were barely increasing then they doubled then they decreased. So far no pelvic exam or even basic vitals have been taken just being told to go home and wait to miscarry. Was told if they decrease again they will wait a week for the natural process then a D and C would be scheduled monday if nothing happened. She is discontinuing bloodwork after yesterdays if it decreases again...I thought that they did bloodwork till it reaches 0? I have tried addressing a possible tubal with her because I am 35 all is ignored. Should I seek another opinion?

Oh I'm sorry to hear this. You are being given the brush-off left and right. I can imagine your frustration. I'll cross my fingers that you see a different Dr next week.

Latest update folks...tried to get two other providers opinion in my area and/or follow up care...both denied me services after talking to their directors...ones reason was because it was their opinion that I should follow through with my current provider...the others reason after not getting back to me for several hours was that they had no appointments for 2 weeks when I asked if I could check with them for cancellations they told me they would have none for 2 weeks I should follow through with my current provider...I made a call then to the umbrella health care provider for the area to talk to an advocate who helps with concerns...have not recieved a call back yet. I thought it was my legal right to get another provider if I so choose...but apparently I am stuck with a provider I am unhappy with...I did call and ask to have an appointment with another doctor there but will have to wait about a week to see her and she will be on call that day so appointment may get changed anyway. So more waiting whether I want to or not...no further labs during this time so I am very upset. God help anyone if anything goes wrong during this week. UGHHHHH

I think that you should go ahead and see someone else regardless of the outcome.  This is not a very reassuring and caring doctor from the little information I have.  Though I agree that tubal is probably not a high possibility, it would be prudent to examine you via an u/s, unless your levels never reached 1000.  Once you get to that point, it would be possible to see a sac, and a better diagnosis could be established in conjunction with the blood work.  So sorry you had to face a not so helpful doctor.

Good luck, and please keep us posted.

FYI- I had a D&C yesterday for missed miscarriage and my story is long and convoluted.  With that said, I want you to know that my doctor was extremely attentive and did not hesitate to check and triple check things that he didn't even have to in order to cross his t's and dot his i's.  That is a professional!

No ultrasound...and the numbers did decrease again so I know miscarriage is going to happen she told me over the phone that there is no tubal pregnancy...she is basing this on the levels alone and has not examined me at all...not sure if thats normal or not but am going through the process of getting a referrel to another provider should things not progress naturally and I need a D and C or other care.

I would get a 2nd opinion. It doesn't sound like she is listening to you. Have you had an ultrasound?
