Pls welcome Neena Giselle Mushlin

Hi Ladies!

Our little bundle of joy was born early on Easter Sunday morning - 4 days before her due date!

Last Friday afternoon,  I started to feel contractions - nothing regular or time-able,  just random ones.  We had friends over on Friday night and stayed up til 4am,  me feeling mild contractions the whole evening and still thinking it wasn't going to happen the next day or the next since my due date was 3/27.  I know,  we're nuts.  Then by Saturday morning,  I was feeling more consistent contractions,  timing at 10 minutes apart.  We had a late breakfast and called our doula.  She was very cool about everything,  and was basically like "ok,  let's talk later...."  and I was a little annoyed because by then I thought I was ready to go.  Everything started to move along pretty well,  and by 4pm they were coming at about 6 mins apart.  My doula arrived at 7pm.  She was really amazing,  it turns out her instincts to wait and come by later were right on.  I worked on my own all that time and she showed right when I really needed her and things were intensifying.  She applied some heat to the front of my belly and got me up out of bed to labor in a standing position while she applied counter pressure with every contraction - that felt really good and I wanted her to keep doing that.  Jeremy was right there with us at every step,  holding my hand and telling me what a good job I was doing and it meant everything to me that I just had to do focus on what was going in my body and leave everything else completely up to him.  I feel like my brain had shut off sometime earlier in the day and remained that way the rest of the time - it was almost as if I wasn't there.

At about 9:30 we decided it was time to start heading to the hospital.  It took us awhile to get our act together.  We called our doctor,  let them know we were coming and finally left home at about 10:15.  We got to the hospital in about 25 mins.  They put me in triage - checked BP,  and baby's heart rate,  everything was looking good.   The doctor came in to examine me and found that I was 9cm dilated.  Then it was all a mad rush!!  :o)

They moved me to a birthing room. My water had still not broken at this point,  so the doctor ruptured the membranes.  I didn't feel that at all.  A few more very intense contractions and about 12 minutes of pushing later - our little Easter Bunny was born!  I really couldn't believe that we were done,  except for the fact that there was a little squirmy,  screaming gorgeous little bundle laid on my chest!

We're home now and enjoying every little thing about having her here with us, finally.

Thank you ladies for being here - it has been an amazing ride,  and it was made easier and more bearable just knowing that we are all in this together.  Love you tons - and good luck to everyone and their new and soon-coming babies!

xo

Thanks everyone!  I am having a hard time with breastfeeding now.  Saw a lactation consultant yesterday - my milk production is just so minuscule and makes Neena disinterested in the breast.  We're supplementing with formula,  which I did not want to do,  but oh well!  When I pump,  I get less than an ounce from both breasts - very disappointing.  Trying to get production up,  but it's taking a lot.  :o(  Oh well,  I guess we all have our challenges, huh?

Peace and joy and growth to all of you!  xox
