I have had two negative blood and urine tests.   However, I have pregnancy symptoms of nausea, vomiting, constipating, dizziness, bloating.

I had a pelvic exam and was told that my uterus was "large".  Today I am experiencing ligh cramping with brownish discharge. I haven't had a period since January 18, 2009.

My HGClevels have been at a "2"; however, in my previous pregnancies, my levels didn't show up until a certain time.

I had a tubal ligation in February 2008.

I'm going crazy and just want to determine if I am pregnant.

Yvette, she already said her last period was 01/18/09, which would make her about seven weeks pregnant - definately nausea time. And, yes, it's rare to get pg after a tubal - but not unhead of. I, personally, know three people who have gotten pregnant after one. Not to say there's a pregnancy there! But, it's definately a possibility.

Traluv - you should just call your OB and schedule an exam. Whether you are pregnant or not, you need to see a doctor. You would be about seven weeks now, so a heartbeat *should be visible if you are pregnant. If you are not pregnant, there is another issue that definately needs to be looked at. So...get on that phone ASAP, girl! Please keep us updated...

The blood tests and the urine tests check for a pregnancy hormone.  If you're body has this hormone over a ceratain level...then you're pregnant.   Most home pregnancy tests will give you a postive result of this hormone when this level is over 25 and the blood tests will give you the exact count.   Anything technically over 5 indicates you're pregnant although labs will vary and some raise the limit.  

The symptoms you're having aren't necessarilty pregnancy symptoms and the nausea/vomiting hits you in pregnancy at later weeks when there is a lot of hcg, progeterone, etc in your system.  You didn't say how late your period was or how far along you thought you were.

Hcg show's up in your body at about 7 to 9 days after fertilization occurs.  It takes about 5 to 7 days for the fertilized egg to float throught the fallopian tube and then another 1 or 2 days for the egg to implant into the uterus and another day for the embryo to start producing hcg.   It could be maybe up to 5 days later than what I'm telling you, but not later than that.  I am not aware of a case that hcg shows up in someone more than 14 to 15 days after ovulation.  

However, you are right....the only way you could tell for sure is ultrasound.  But unless your hcg level is positive (blood test) they probably won't give you the diagnosis of pregnancy.  

I would suggest taking another pregnancy test in a week.  If you don't get a positive or your period at that point, then make an appt to see your gyn.  You could have something that is messing around with your hormones.  

You say you had a tubal ligation....it's very very rare people get pregnant after that.   They literally take out a section of your tube.  There is no way for egg to meet sperm.  

I honestly think you have something else going on.   My first impression is that maybe you've got a uterine polyp or some type of hormone imbalance that is causing your cycle to be late.  I'd check again with OB.

Believe you me, I didn't want to be pregnant and if I am not, I will accept that.

I believe the tubal has failed.  That happens sometimes, especially when the nurse tells me that there have been 4 other ladies at the same doctor's practice that has had their tubals done and are pregnant right now.  

I know my body and I would not have these symptoms unless something was going on.

I would like to believe that but, I have had 3 other children and I had the same symptoms and tests results with them and they are here.

Without a ultrasound how can you really know?

I'm not a doctor, but I think I'm safe in saying that you are not pregnant.  Especially because you had a tubal ligation. Sometimes we want to be pregnant so badly that our mind and body can play head games with us in thinking we are...sorry.
