Prenatal Vitamins

MY RE told me to use the prenatals at the pharmacy but someone just told me that they have heard horror stories about the over the counter prenatal vitamins, she said they do not include a stool softener so they make you really constipated as opposed to the prescribed. Is anyone taking the over the counter vitamins??

I have taken OTC and my Dr was fine with it.  The only problem was I turned anemic and needed to start taking IRON Pills but that would've happened no matter if I were on OTC or Prescription.

I have a prescription for NataChew . . . chewable prenatal vitamins because I have a difficult time taking the larger prenatal tablets and would have to cut them in half because they are usually larger tablets. The Natachew are chewable and fruit flavored, but best when taken with some juice.

Thank you all for your answers, I just bought some and I think they are the Spring Valley brand. Sounds like they will be fine, if not I will try the prescrption ones.

Your RE doesn't see you for long after you get your  BFP,  So pick an OB now and they will prescribe some if you want with colace.  I take precare premier and it has colace, I still get the no goes, I take a day off so I can go again, So they work for some not for all.  A good over the counter are Rainbow Prenatals.  Good luck ~d

My prenatals are over the counter as well, Spring Valley, I think.  I've had no problem.  I do take additional folic, just because I'm paranoid.  I haven't had any constipation as of yet.  I still have 8 weeks to go so who knows what can happen but so far, I've been very happy with them.
