I am 20 wks pregnant with twins and I haven't been sleeping at all for the past few weeks. I either have trouble breathing or I feel extremely nervous all the time.

Will all this sleeplessness be bad for the babies? I'm afraid that not sleeping enough will be too much stress on my body and stress is very bad for the babies.

Any advice?

i'm only 4 weeks and I'm having trouble sleeping already... I wake up around 2am to go to the bathroom and then i am up for about 3 hours tossing and turning and when i finally fall asleep, either the dog or my son wakes me up. UGH. AND, last night i had heart burn! With my son, i didn't get heart burn until i was about 6 months... if this starts this early, i'm in for a VERY long road!

Nessa - i also had hip issues with my son... the pregnancy pillow helps a bit...

I'm so happy to hear I'm not alone. I'm 13 weeks as well and I'm constantly waking up due to weird dreams, frequent bathroom breaks, and lower back pain. Have you found anything that works that doesn't involve medication? I was thinking about getting the pregnancy pillow, but wasn't sure that worked or not.

Fingers crossed for more sleep for you! :)

I'm 22 weeks now and have recently started to experience sleeplessness at night and then crash mid-day.  This makes it extremely hard at work! Thank goodness, this is my last week as we are moving in two weeks and I can take a few months off until the baby arrives!  I've also having problems with my hips hurting since having to sleep on my sides, a tempurpedic bed isn't holding up to its promise of a good night's rest!!

I had a lot of strange dreams during my first trimester. They were more vivid. Also I dreamed a lot about people I hadnt seen in a while. I found the dreams tiring and a teeny bit stressful so I sometimes couldnt get back to sleep right away. Fortunately I can nap during the day. Was told I could take benadryl after 12 weeks for better sleep, but I chose not to. Now at 24 weeks I sleep gloriously. Good luck with zzzzzzs.

I am 33 weeks and I have given up on trying to sleep - I figure I will fall asleep when I need to - but the night time seems to be the hardest.. I can sleep for a few hours during the day - luckily I am home on bedrest as if I were working right now .... I would be exhausted!!!

I'm 26 weeks and STILL having problems sleeping at night.  I NEVER sleep well during pregnancy.

I had a lot of night wakefulness throughout my pregnancy.  I think it's a pretty common thing when the hormones are changing.
