Try to BD every day for the next 4 days to cover all of your bases. O usually happens 24-36 hours after +OPK but I tend to do it 2-3 days after. Good Luck!

Hi Ree!
I noticed you said you were trying to get pregnant withoug ovulation kits.  The "kits" are just tests, like pregnancy tests that show you when you will be ovulating(if it's positive, that meansyou will ovulate within 12-24 hours).

Before I started TTC, I didn't really know what they were but after doing a little research on pregnancy tests on-line(the ones the doctors use), I discovered what ovulation tests actually were.  I ordered some just because of my age(almost 42) and past horomone issues. I figured I'd have trouble getting pregnant and wanted to "arm" myself with as much knowledge about my cycle as I could, instead of guessing when I was ovulating.

The very first time I took an ovulation test(again, it's a urine test, like pregnancy tests) it was positive, and I concieved in the next 12-24 hours...100% naturally!  I highly recommend trying it just to make sure you are ovulating when you think you are.

Good luck!

I am wondering what doctor would put you on clomid after only 4 months without charting or OPK's or anything? It is amazing how many women find out that they were BD at the wrong time once they start charting BBT. Clomid isn't going to help if you don't know when you are ovulating. And since they don't recommend using Clomid more than three months in a row, I wouldn't waste something that could be helpful when you haven't tried to figure out your cycle, when or if you O or what other things might be a factor in your fertility like blocked tubes or other physical problems that prevent pregnancy. It takes the average healthy couple up to a year to conceive. After 35 they usually would like to start tests after 6 months without success but usually they will run other tests first to see if there are any physical problems before starting therapies.

I know this may sound "cliche" but im 37 yrs old, simply have sex everyday like my cousin once told me,,,she said to me when i was trying to get preggo and it wasnt working, she told me...dont skip a day , do it every single day ...and it work for me!!

try not to take any drugs, just relax, candles, just think about making love, not getting preggo..and it will happen ,,i guarantee it:)

Hi Ree - Ditto on how long it takes naturally.  I'm currently taking Clomid and think it helped in my previous pregnancies, all though, I've had a total of 4 m/c in the last 4 years as well.  But, I also have a genect balanced translocation, so I'm a special case.  I found that the Clomid gives me pretty bad side effects (PMS on steroids, hot flashes, 5 lb weight gain due to water retention), so my RE wrote me a script for Femara, which I don't have any side effect with.

I'm currently using the Clear Blue Easy monitor and Clear blue easy digital kits.  The monitor can be a bit pricey at first, but over time is worth it.  The monitor runs about $200 and you have to buy the test sticks and those are about $40, but you get 50 which can last you a long time if you have a pretty regular cycle.  You use the monitors with first morning urine and there is some controversy over when you should test to get your surge.

The predictor kits you can use anytime and I use those in the afternoon, when they say is mostly likely to detect your surge. Those run about $40 for 7 sticks, but I can make one kit last 2 months.

I also chart on Fertility Friend as well.  I'm 39, so clock is ticking for me and with all my other issues, can't afford to let a month go by, so some people would think it's overkill, but when you've been at this as long as I have with the losses it's tough.

I'm sure that if you give it a few more months you'll have your BFP in no time though.

Hi Ree - welcome to our little group!  The fertility forum too is a wealth of information and support that you'll find useful.

The gold standard for seeing a doctor is:  one year for women 34 and under, 6 months for 35+ and 2-3 months for women 40+.  I wish you all the best in this cycle - hopefully the clomid will do its job and you'll get your BFP! - SSBD, jen

A doctor friend of mine said that if you look at  500 couples who are trying to get pregnant the "natural" way - after 6 months only 50% of them are pregnant.

I got pregnant exactly at the 6 month mark on our Honeymoon. One of my friends joked that God wanted us to be "properly" married before we concieved ;-)

Welcome!
4 months is not that long for TTC ( trying to conceive).
I have never used clomid so I cant give advise on that, but I do use " taking charge of your fertility" book and software and I think its great.  You can google it and read up on it.  It may give you more information about your body so you feel more confident and more relaxed while you try.
Good luck!
