I've known a few people to get them, but haven't heard any "wow, it helped so much" stories. I would be surprised if they did make much difference as labour pain is so intense, but I've had very quick labours so maybe they're useful for a long early stage before the pain ramps up. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money, gas and air is fantastic stuff and helps a lot. I also found it very painful to be touched at all during contractions, like my skin was so sensitive that it actually hurt me 10x more than the contractions, I don't think I could have stood having anything on me.
Tens machines are used widely in UK and Ireland to ease labour. It appears birthing and medical treatments in the U.S. are very different, so perhaps they are not recommend/not commonly used there.
I have never heard of using a 10s machine with labor. It's not as common as you think. They never mentioned it at all during my birthing class with my last pregnancy 2 years ago either.
Tens machine is for use in labour to ease contractions. They have ones specifically designed for labour pain. There's no need to ask my doctor, as they are standard practice. I'm just wondering how much they help with labour pain and whether it's worth spending the money to buy one.
U should not be using a tens machine during pregnancy
Is this for back pain associated with your pregnancy or in general? I had one for a neck injury after a car accident. It did seem to help (it's a smaller version of what they did in the chiropractor's office and my physical therapist gave it to me). It's a little weird in terms of how it feels but I personally think it helped. I'd double check though about using it with your doctor. good luck
*is the tens machine worth getting.
I should read before I post! Lol!
