two faint positives yesterday.Negative today.

Im due to get my period next week on Wednesday.  Yesterday I got two faint positive HPT tests (with two different brands) and today I got a negative.  Of course, I should wait until my expected period time (i know, I know) but we all get anxious and want to know ahead of time, especially since I had a miscarriage in March and have been trying since.  What do you think?  Maybe I got two defective tests?  I don't understand why today's test would be negative, when HCG should be stronger today than yesterday morning.  Now, Im torturing myself and should have just waited until next week.

Well, I went through this as well...twice this past year.  In Nov, I had 3 positives and 2 negatives.  Turned out I ended up getting my period in a few days. Doc said I was pregnant, but lost it right away. Odds are something was wrong.  He called this a "chemicall pregnancy", and said MANY women have these but most dont even realize it b/c they dont test and are expecting a period....which comes eventually anyway.

A few months after that, I went through the same thing.  This time, it was confirmed that I was pregnant, but at 8 weeks, we didnt find a HB.  I enede up have a d&c eventually.

Then...a few months later....again....I had 2 positive, and 1 negative. Naturally, I thought it was the same ole, same ole story with me.  But- this time, doc thinks it was due to different pregnancy tests....all of my blood and all other tests have been positive.  We got s HB this time at 7 weeks.  i am holding my breath and keeping my fingers/toes crossed that we still see a HB on our next appt at 12 weeks.

TRY not to get down in the dumps. It *****...and it ***** even more not knowing, but it all works out in the end. Stay positive and keep trying.  You just never know. You could be so eearly that different brands of HPT didnt pick up lower levels of HCG.  I will say this, and doc agrees with me....unless you are taking certain fertility drugs, or were JUST pregnant, there really are not too many false positives.

Good Luck!!!

There are so many things that could be happening here.  If you are using different brands, remember they all have different levels of sensitivity.  Some are also more prone to phantom lines then others.  I have had phantom lines on blue dye tests that I would have sworn were positives.  I still have some up on my pics.  They came up within the recommended time frame.  If you are only using pink dye (which would be my suggestion), different brands still have different sensativity levels.  I have always found the First Response to be the most reliable.  It is also the best one (in my opinion) for early testing.

False positives are rare...false negatives are fairly common, especially this soon before your period is due. (btw, I was the queen of early testing, so I know exactly how you feel...it's impossible to resist that urge..lol).

If it were me, I would pick up a First Response, and try in the morning with first morning urine.  I wouldn't count you out yet!!  Good luck!!

Thanks for the information.  it gives me a little bit of hope, but I know I can't get my hopes up too high.  Im just so frustrated.  I don't want to continue trying.  Im worn out...mentally!  Im glad your stuck this time.  That's great news for you!  Im scheduled for a docs appt next week, just in case I need to get my HCG levels checked.  If I get my period, guess I'll cancel.  Thanks.  I need all the luck.

Thanks.  I did use two different HPTs with blue dye.  I will definately go and get a first response.  The waiting game is torture, but I will try my hardest to wait until next Wednesday.  Ughh.  Hope this is it.  Im trying so hard not to believe its positive to avoid dissappointment.  pray for me!  Thanks again.
