What country do you live in?? Difference in health care and opinions ??

I live in the uk, my midwife is reluctant to do an internal examination to see if i am dilated until 40 weeks even though i am 39+3. Also any home inducing methods like castor oil, cohosh, clary sage have all been looked down on my health care, just wondering how you rate your health care/midwife in your country and how there are opinions may be different  thanks and good luck to all of you excited mothers xxx

Hiya sounds like you are happy with your healthcare, im glad. U have been getting real strong contractions, not braxton hix, i also have other health reasons for asking for an internal, they are very uncomfortable and i would not ask for one otherwise lol :-):-)

I'm in the UK (Bristol) and my midwives have been brilliant. They always have time for me and I have been prescribed a few things through the pregnancy, some 'just in case' and have never found them reluctant to give me something they think I need. Why would you would want an internal  examination unless the first stage of labour had started anyway?

Thank u for your replies it is very intetesting, over here the UK the opinion is usually thay because the majority of people here get there health care free they dont like to perscribe alot medicines as it costs the NHS not the patient, when it comes to midwives they every one ii have had has been useless !!!! And this is my 4th on 4 years lol Brits are very stuck up when it comes to health care (or just about anything) lol as i said they will not do am internal until you are past 40 weeks unless you are in active labour!!!! Would love to hear some more experiences amd opinions, good luck to all where ever you may be :-):-):-):-):-)

United States here.  The elected and medically unnecessary c sect capital of the world. midwives and Doulas aren't covered by most insur unless partnered with a physician. Birthing centers and home births are frowned upon and not covered at all.  First vaccines are injected right after birth.

Im from Canada and they will do an internal at 36w and every week from there on. They don't want to do one earlier unless they have to because they don't want to be touching the cervix if it's not needed. Midwives and doulas here will check when asked but most try not to, to early for the same reasons. Other then that and Medicare being free I don't think there is much of a difference. Most doctors here don't induce unless a medical reason exists.
