Thanks for the support. I took a pregnancy test on Saturday morning, and it was NEGATIVE! So, I still haven't started completely, but I've had some spotting today. I've also been sick with swollen glands, temperature off and on and sore throat, etc. I saw my doctor today and I have a bacterial infection with excessive yeast. So, she started me on Diflucan for 10 days and a bacterial antibiotic. So, it's probably better I'm not pregnant this month. It was a let down, but I'm okay.
So, next month when I'm feeling better we'll try again! :)
I believe in God and at 46 you can still have kids. May God protect you and bless you with a beautiful baby.
Hi there, I was just reading through your posts and I think its great your ttc again. I don't have a lot to add that the others haven't already, but did want to say good luck, and I look forward to seeing your post for a BFP!!!!!!
No, no such luck yet! I'm saying lots of prayers hoping this is the time! :)
I'm glad you were able to get your baby in April! That's wonderful! My sister just had her second child in October. So far, I'm the only one in my family on both sides who has had problems like this. My mother can't relate - she was one of those who could say I want to be pregnant this month and she'd become pregnant!
Have a great New Year!!!
Do you have any children?
No - I just had a baby in April so I think we might be through although my husband would like another. We have 11 frozen embryos in case we want to do all of this again. I would love to get pregnant again but the reality is how old do I want to be raising a teenager - I think I might be pushing it right now (for me at least).
I have the blood work at home - I'll look and see what levels, but I'm thinking it was both that you mentioned. My doctors could never tell me why I would continue to miscarry. But, I'm wondering if perhaps my hormone levels were out of whack. My current doctor has no idea, but she is really trying to help me to make sure it doesn't happen again when I do get pregnant. I'm on great vitamins and folic acid. I also take B-12 injections and iron because I used to be extremely anemic.
Are you trying again? I see that you had a baby boy! Congratulations!
You mentioned getting your blood levels checked - FSH? Estradiol? Since you've had repeated miscarriages, are the doctors testing to see why that keeps happening? Even though I'm no doctor, I would think that knowing the cause of your repeated m/c's is part of the key.
40smama:
I've done clomid, artificial insemination, HCG hormone shots to make sure I would ovulate. We did that for about a year. The doctor wanted us to go the next step, but we couldn't afford it and he said he really couldn't understand why I wasn't getting pregnant anyway. Of course, before he did all this - he tested me. At one point, he did surgery to look inside to see if anything was abnormal and all looked good. My blood levels were off though. Sometimes my progesterone levels would be whacked out.
When hubby and I first got married I was 29. I got pregnant immediately and miscarried at 6 weeks. Then I got pregnant again a month or so later, and m/c at 8 weeks and then again 3 months later and m/c at 11 weeks. I never have made it past the first trimester. I'm pretty sure I've had other m/cs due to being late and having heavier than normal periods. At the time, I had a horrible doctor. When I went to the specialist, he told me I should have been told not to get pregnant again right away.
Then I went through a time for health reasons (me and hubby), that I stopped trying. I figured it would happen if it was meant to be. Now, I'm ready to try again and we did - so I'm praying and hoping this is it! If not, I'm sure I'll be saddened, but I'll just keep trying!
I'm curious - what kind of fertility treatments have you done?
I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c. That's one of the worst feelings in the world. So, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that things will happen for you as well!
If my period does not come tonight, then I'll take the test tomorrow morning! I'm so dang nervous! My heart is beating so fast just thinking about it! LOL!!!
Good luck to you and I hope 2009 is productive for you as well!!! ;)
Congratulations Pam--your story has me so psyched! Thanks to both of you for posting. I am 44 and ttc after a m/c on 12/5. Everyone believes it can happen. I am young looking, healthy, etc and we got pg by surprise. I too am very regular my whole life and can feel when I ovulate. I knew on day 29 that I was pg--my fiance knew a week earlier because I was having the "worst pms" for three straight weeks. Take the test, be positive, face your fears and move beyond them. Keep trying!!! I keep trying to live by a quote I heard somewhere: "Move towards love, not away from fear." A Happy and Productive 2009 to both of you!
Hey, one more question. I always drink Soy protein drinks and I had heard somewhere that Soy is not good for pregnancy? Is that true? Thanks!
CONGRATS Pam!
Thank you so much! I'm sure we can have fun trying if I'm not pregnant! I'm sure you understand the disappointments and I'm so fearful of that this time, but I also know that it's only a matter of time before my period would come if I'm not pregnant. I've been pretty accurate at 28 days exactly - except for the month before last it was early.
I had been pretty sick for a few years with various pain from several problems (including an addiction to pain medicine that started out innocently), but that's all behind me now. I still have chronic pain, but it's nothing that would hurt me or a baby.
Anyway, again, thanks for your support!
CONGRATS AGAIN TOO!!!
I think it's great that you want to try for a baby at 46! From what you've said, it sounds like you have the green light to start trying! If you are 2 days late for your period, you should test, it will more than likely show an accurate result. Don't be discourage if it's negative, just give it a go again and again! : ) Best of luck to you, wishing you a BFP for 2009! BTW, I'm 9wks pregnant and I'm 45. Pam
