They give it to for signs of premature labor I also got the same shot at 28 weeks cause my cervix started to open its better to be safe than sorry so that's the reason they gave it to u so if u do deliver early ur babt won't have to be n the nicu
The steroid i got was the betametasone, you were right, when i went out i asked the midwife why i was getting these injections she simply said iv never delt with you before so i dont know!! Ridiculous, i guess im gonna have ta do a bit of research myself or wait until my next ante natal clinic check up
The steroid they gave you is probably called betamethasone if you want to look it up...
If you're going back tomorrow ask them if you're having contractions or if they think that your going to go into labor early?
They usually give you that injection to prepare baby in case you deliver early. It will helps mature baby's lungs. I'm shocked that they didn't explain that to you. I'm also curious why they would give it unless they saw signs that your body was preparing to go into labor. Did they tell you that you were having contractions?
Ohh right, well in that case you're going to have to try and bare it. If it does get too much though and you are worried, try out of hours or just ring again. I've not been in that situation, so I am sorry that I cannot be any further help. Good luck and it isn't a problem:) x
I did that today and they told me too come out and i ended up getting the injection, they didnt tell me much at all didnt explain why i was gettin the pains and now since i got the injection iv got more pressure in my back, is the reason they gave me the injection because i might be in early labour oh i dunno its so confusing, thanks so much for commenting :) x
Call the hospital or your midwife and just explain to them the pain you are experiencing. It might be nothing but if you are majorly worried ring the hospital straight away. Good luck. X
