They use a numbing gel so you don't really feel the epidural, the time it takes to wear off varies from person to peraon. Personally I would suggest something like nubain instead considering all the risks with an epidural. If you're mid contraction and move at all when they give it they can nick a nerve. Not to mention the fact that long term back problems and migraines from having got an epidural are increasingly common. I had one 3 1/2yrs ago with my first and still have severe pain at the injection site. Chiropractor, meds massages etc nothing has helped. I opted for a natural birth second time around and that was a breeze compared to my first labor. This time depending on how things go I'm leaving myself the option of nubain, but I will never get another epidural.
I had one with my first baby 17 yrs ago and plan on having one with this baby. I had no side effects or after effects with it. Every one is different though.
I got one with my son 4Y ears ago, as my mother did with me and my siblings, and we both get excruciating lower back pain from it. Different women react to it Different ways. Would i say it was worth it? Im not sure. But There are alternatives if u don't want to take the risk of side effects afterwords.
Hello. In my experience, when I was injected with epidural I couldn't really feel it because they put numbing cream before. Also, the contractions will feel just like minor period cramps, at least in my case. It took me a couple of hours to start getting the feeling on my legs back but my back just felt a little sore for a couple days after. It has been 4 years and I have no complaints.
