drug testing

Hello ladies. I just had a quick question. One of my girlfriends is now 36 weeks pregnant and she was smoking weed off and on through her pregnancy. She was concerned about them drug testing her and her daughter and was wondering was anyone from Philadelphia that has experience with this. She doesn't want her child taken away but in all actuallity she shouldn't of to begin with but now thats besides the point. Do anyone know is it mandatory to test or is it only under suspicion That they will test in the state of pa/Philadelphia?

From PA... doctors are not allowed to test a woman for drugs unless they have her consent. They should not be testing her for that at the doctor.  That's just a scare tactic.
However, if she goes into labor and the hospital feels she may be under the influence of something they can test the baby at birth... for baby's safety.
All that being said, I know plenty of people who smoke pot religiously and they gave it up if they were trying to get pregnant or immediately upon finding out they were pregnant. It doesn't much matter to me if they make it legal or not... the effects of any drug can be harmful to an unborn child. Tell her to stop ASAP. What she chooses to injest is one thing but her baby has no choice. Wise up!

Wow! Now why would someone deliberately hurt their own baby? She couldn't wait 9 months till baby was out? Your friend needs help. Probably better if CPS were involved to protect the baby.

I don't know about there but here in Az the drs are required to test your urine throughout your pregnancy. That info gets noted in your file and sent to the hospital. It always gets reported to CPS here....
