From what I have heard, you're in so much pain from contractions the needle feels like nothing. I'm a first time mom, due in 30 days so I can't say from experience, just what I have been told.
They numb it with lidocaine. That's normally the worst part.
I didn't feel anything at all
Don't be scared! I'm due in 39 more days with my fourth baby! I have gotten an epidural with every baby and I was hurting so bad from the contractions til the first stick was like a bee sting, after that I didn't feel anything! And to make you feel better think about your not the only one who's getting it!
I had an epidural with my first two. The best advice is just don't look at the needle. Concentrate on breathing through your contractions. The anesthesiologist will be behind you so you won't see what they are doing or the needle. A bee sting is a good way to describe it. You will be fine :)
I just gave birth on the 17th, I am super scared of needles and don't have a high pain control I seriously smiled threw my whole epidural procedure. Once I got it, I finally slept I was so happy!
Thank you all, I'm just scared I guess with this being my first & I'm due in 22 days . I'm not pain tolerate person or do I tolerate needles . Lol but thank you all for the advice. Lol
They put a.little.local in first to numb the area so my friend told.me.when she had it.. she said when it kicked in it was amazing lol
Honestly I don't remember feeling him put the epidural in at all, I was in the middle of a contraction and had really bad back labor so when he was done I think I told him I loved him!
