I had GD with my daughter..10 yrs later disgnosed diagnosed  again..doc thinks i had previous to this preg. Diet worked lsdt time but not do much this time. Im only 12 weeks and just started oral meds instead of insulin. It can be scary but eating healthy and watching ur carbs & sugars will help u and baby!

Also u should be givin a glucouse meter so u can check ur sugar four times a day two hours after each meal and before breakfast ! My first pregnancy it was way out of control no matter what I ate , with my others wasen't as bad but was still on the lowest dose of insulin in the end! This time I've been tracking my sugar since 14 wks and so far so good w/just diet ! But if I eat someting like a  doughnut I get a high  reading !! My doctor allowed me to skip the glucose test this time because of my history and just sent me straight to the educator so I could start tracking my sugar earlier, which in my case I agreed because why put my body threw the test when most likely I have it and I do..my point is u don't know how bad or good it is unless ur testing ur sugars every pregnancy is diffferent !

Yea they usually give u a few weeks to try to control it with diet and u get sent to a diabetes educator so u learn how and what u should be eating..my plan is 40to 60 carbs a meal and 15 to 30 carbs per snack..so far its been working for me and is not that hard to fallow ..

In my case I'm on the high end of normal.   I know for a fact I would not be needing insulin.  It all depends on how high your number was.  If its around where I'm at or even a bit higher,  the doc will give you a diet plan.  I don't plan on doing the 3 hour test because technically I'm still within normal.  It's good to be on the safe side ,  but guaranteed you will just be put on a diet and monitored.

Deffinatly listen to ur doctor and do what they tell you to do!!! I had it w/all three and now my fouth time  around. ..some times u can control it w/diet but not always! ! There is medicine ...insulin and now adays they give pregnant woman it in pill form too..not a big deal but left un controled it could lead to problem s for u and baby ! Good luck to you

Yes and ty for all the advice.  I tend to be a worry wart. I am going in for my second test.  I want to do what's right for my baby.  I have a little idea as to what to change.  The week before my test I was craving sweet tea.. I drank a lot! As of yesterday ..I drank water ... water..water! I pray I get this under control

I have gestational diebetes, im now 38wks, it isnt just sweet things that need to be careful of but your amount of carb intake so entails cutting down on portion size's of bread, pasta,  potato etc It can be controlled through diet & just need to check bloods before & after main meals, its frustrating but end of it all you want to make sure do everything can to ensure have a healthy baby. I wouldn't ignore the advice you're given...they are the experts. Im being induced a week early so that baby doesn't grow anymore as already showing above average which is affects of having gestational diebetes.
Hope this helps.

I think you should at least speak to your dr before Only dieting. Bcuz its depends on the severity of it also. A good friend had it when pregnant and she had to give herself injections 4 times a day diet didn't help. And ur being so high she had to do something. It's not often though alot of ppl get it as badly as her. But I'd find out from Dr first

Also,  if you do the three hour test and its determined you have gestational diabetes,  the doc will put you on a diet.  You can look up a diet plan on the Internet and save time and money.  I don't think there are meds to control this either.  I have cut out a lot of sweets from my diet.  I actually feel a lot better.  I felt weak and tired a lot before.  I guess this was partly why.

I'm 29 weeks and also had elevated numbers on my glucose test.  With normal being between 70-139 I was 137. Doc wants me to do a 3 hour glucose test.  I am declining as I feel it's unnecessary.  I know I have this issue and know only diet can control this.  The three hour test will be of no benefit.
