questions about preg/herpes

hi all, i am 30+ old.  I recently find out i got infected with herpes.  I am very upset, because I am planning for kids this year.  I am very scared of having a baby know since herpes V. in my blood.  What if i had a breakout while i am pregnant.  can i use valtrex while i am pregnant.  Medication will effect babys growth.  so many questions and fears.  someone please help me.  I know i need to talk to my DR.  but, in the meanwhile i cant wait to findout from people who has/who's family member had this same problem.

Check drugs.com for what category Valtrex falls under - that'll give you some info although you should go by your dr's recommendations.

Even if we don't have genital herpes, most of us have some other forms of herpes.  There are many kinds. I wouldn't worry at all.  As a previous poster mentioned, you might have to have a c section, but I'm pretty sure that is the extent of it.  

It cannot cause down syndrome.

A relative of mine had twins when she had the virus. They are fine. The odds are something like 1 in 5 people having the virus and I am sure a lot of them are having kids and DR's see it all the time.

you can have children with herpes, if you have a breakout when in labor they do c-section, they do not hurt the baby while in utrues its the birth when they pass through that hurts them if no breakout while labor you will have normal, talk to your obgy they can explain it all to you , and never heard of herpes causing down syndome.
