glucose tolerance test

I was was wondering what the glucose tolerance test involved I live in the uk and have the 3 hour one on the 8th of january im currently 27w1d. All that it says on the letter ive got from the hospital is that its 3 hour and I have to starve myself and only drink water from 11 oclock the night before. Any information would be great

The hemoglobin A1c test -- also called HbA1c, glycated hemoglobin test, or glycohemoglobin

Blood test instead of drinking all that glucose! !

I  Don't know about over there, but here in th US I requested the A1C blood draw test instead of the glucose test. That way I didn't have to drink for 3 hours.

Ugh I hate that test. I have to take the 3hour this time instead of the 1 hour(I took the 1 hour 3 times already). I heard that you have to drink this sugary drink then every hour for 3 hours they draw your blood. During the 1 hour you havent 5 minutes to drink the drink it I hear you gotta drink it faster during 3 hour. Good luck I gotta take it on the 17th

I had the glucose, the fruit punch was nasty, I vomited the first time and had to come back the next day to do it over again. It sucked. I still got nauseous the 2nd time but I was able to hold it in. Both my arms were sore for a couple of days.

Ive had it now the drinks was just fizzy lucozade and the test lasted over 3 hour just waiting for them to get in touch with the results

Its not too bad I had the fruit punch nd it taste like red Hawaiian punch to me. Then I waited an hour for a blood test. But don't eat anything sweet befor :). Good luck

Its not all too bad, u will be hungry... But once u drink the fluid its nasty n very sweet but it made me not too hungry after drinking it...they take blood 3 times though..before u drink the syrup... Then after each hour u come back to draw blood . I drank the fruit punch flavor it actually wasnt TOO BAD, n dont let them rush u too sip it u may get nausious drinking it too fast... Good luck.
