glucose

I am 43 yrs 24+4 weeks with my unexpected surprise baby girl.  Mom of two already 12 and 8  Last wednesday failed my 1 hr glucose screningy # was 137  On friday i did the 3 hr glucose test and these were my #s

Fasting 70-94 mine was 81
1 hr  70-179 mine was 172
2 hr. 70-154 mine was 160
3 hr. 70-139 mine was 137

As you can see i failed the 2 hr i was such a mess this weekend.  I cried lots i feel i am failing and jeopardizing my babys health...i will call my doctors off tomorrow.  Do you think i am overreacting?, i know some dietary changes would help but its not like ive gained too much weight only 12 lbs.  has anyone experienced this?  I am so afraid of gestational diabetes which i have not been diagnosed yet!

Don't fret, gestational diabetes can hit anyone. I have been diabetic through 2 pregnancies and now- both healthy babies, and i am now in a 3rd diabetic pregnancy. Find a good endocrinologist and work with them to get and keep your sugars in control. You will be fine.

I have GD and I'm not sure why you're so upset. You passed. You're allowed to have fail one and still pass the test as a whole and your numbers aren't even bad. I'd have a talk with your Dr so they can make you feel better because I think your test came out well and you shouldn't be feeling bad about it. They should have discussed it with you at your test so you didn't have this needless worry. Congrats on your little one : )

I failed the two hour test but passed the others.  My midwife said I don't have GD but they consider me glucose intolerant. Depends on the doc for what they diagnose when it's in the middle line that.  No high risk appointments or anything for me- just some minor diet changes (more protein and veggies- less carbs) and add in some mild exercise. Do that and you'll be fine:)

I also failed the 2 hour test. That was enough for them to diagnostice me with gd. Put me on a diet and send me to the high risk clinic. At 28 weeks i started having appointments and sonograms each week. They also makebme check my sufar level 4 times a day. I did not agree with their decition but i followed all their instructions. Also wants they decided you had gd they will induce you at 39 weeks

Weight isn't always a factor. It just happens.  But GD has great outcomes with a well controlled diet and exercise.  Don't lose hope. It's just the journey you'll have to take if it gets officially diagnosed. Please pay close attention to your Dr and take it serious. Don't beat yourself up, you didn't fail, a medical test just suggested an intervention might be needed. But YOU didn't fail :)
