I asked about progesterone because they never could establish what my true level was from day one. I read it on these boards that it can help prevent a miscarriage so they gave it to me as a safety measure (and to shut me up. hahah). they're suppositories (hard pill 2ce a day) and it's really not bad at all; just messy (wear a pantiliner). Both the RE and the OB said that it wouldn't hurt. The body takes what it needs and discards the rest so if you really dont' need it, no harm will be done.
Good luck. If it helps with your peace of mind, do it. You take them for about 10 weeks.
I'm so sorry about your loss! Thanks for your comments. I also was not diagnosed with a luteal phase defect but they gave them to me for after I ovulate. I feel like in attempt to hold a pregnancy I reached out to the progesterone supplements and that they not only didn't help me get/stay pregnant but now they have completely messed up my hormones and cycle. I am on CD 41 and 22DPO and still no period, negative HPT and my temps have gone down. I guess in time my cycles will regulate but I feel like my clock is ticking... loudly!
Thanks again for your comments and again I'm sorry for your loss.
I was on Progesterone suppositories as soon as I found out I was preggers, b/c of 2 previous miscarriages. I'm no longer on them, just had a 3rd m/c. I haven't really been diagnosed with a luteal phase defect, but they decided to put me on the supplements when I become pregnant, just to be sure. Sorry, I'm not very helpful. I know they do mess with your hormones and your temps will always be higher while on them as well, so temping is out of the question when you are on them (at least it won't be accurate). Sorry, I can't help more!
