help! hormones out of balance due to progesterone?

Does anyone else know much about progesterone supplements?  My dr. put me on them after 2 early miscarriages.  I had a normal, healthy pregnancy (daugter 18 months) and since have had trouble carrying a pregnancy.  My first cycle on prometrium, my cycle was 35 days with 19 day luteal phase.  This cycle I'm at day 38 and counting with a 20 day luteal phase so far.  I took a HPT yesterday and got a negative. I stopped taking the progesterone last night, although woke up with 99.0 temp (.2 higher than yesterday AM).  I took a OPK this morning and got an almost positive.  Although it has been almost positive all cycle except the day before I ovulated when it turned definitely positive.  Has anyone else had exceptionally long cycles and luteal phases while taking these?  So, how do you get your hormones back to normal?  My cycles have always been 28-30 days like clock work.  I'm frustrated that in my attempt to get pregnant I have completely messed up my hormones and now feel like I'm losing 2-3 chances a year to ttc with such long cycles.
Thanks for any help.

I asked about progesterone because they never could establish what my true level was from day one. I read it on these boards that it can help prevent a miscarriage so they gave it to me as a safety measure (and to shut me up. hahah). they're suppositories (hard pill 2ce a day) and it's really not bad at all; just messy (wear a pantiliner). Both the RE and the OB said that it wouldn't hurt. The body takes what it needs and discards the rest so if you really dont' need it, no harm will be done.

Good luck. If it helps with your peace of mind, do it. You take them for about 10 weeks.

I'm so sorry about your loss!  Thanks for your comments.  I also was not diagnosed with a luteal phase defect  but they gave them to me for after I ovulate.  I feel like in attempt to hold a pregnancy I reached out to the progesterone supplements and that they not only didn't help me get/stay pregnant but now they have completely messed up my hormones and cycle.  I am on CD 41 and 22DPO and still no period, negative HPT and my temps have gone down.   I guess in time my cycles will regulate but I feel like my clock is ticking... loudly!
Thanks again for your comments and again I'm sorry for your loss.

I was on Progesterone suppositories as soon as I found out I was preggers, b/c of 2 previous miscarriages.  I'm no longer on them, just had a 3rd m/c.  I haven't really been diagnosed with a luteal phase defect, but they decided to put me on the supplements when I become pregnant, just to be sure.  Sorry, I'm not very helpful.  I know they do mess with your hormones and your temps will always be higher while on them as well, so temping is out of the question when you are on them (at least it won't be accurate).  Sorry, I can't help more!
