Question on Water Breaking

Ok, so in class we were told it could either trickle or gush.  I am pretty sure I would know a gush, but what does a trickle feel like?  I am really wet the last hour or so (that doesn't quite sound right...lol).  I am afraid I am leaking amniotic fluid.  I think I might go and get it checked just to be safe.  It isn't mucusy, it's watery....does that sound like I am leaking?

You will know. It will be a constant trickle. Like a faucet turned on low.

Love youe patience Amanda!  I would be running to L&D! But I guess what's the sense if you can be in the comforts of your home going through this.

Keep us posted!!!

Sounds gross, but my mom just gave me her protective pad for her bed when she was prego with my sister in 1963...was never used but kind of funny.
Did not even know the made them back then!

My water broke at home and I knew right away what happened.  It will be a consistent trickle/leak, not just feeling wet which I was in the last weeks.

Awww thanks ladies.  I don't think this is it though, although I wish it was.  I do think things have changed though...there is no doubt he is much lower and there is lot's of pressure there.  Tick tock tick tock..lol

Wanting, they told us they same thing about the water breaking.  Good lord, you and I do really have all the same worries don't we.  So many times I see a post from you and have to look at the posters name to double check I didn't write it myself..lol.

I guess I still need to be patient.  But I really hope these contractions don't keep going for another week...they do make it hard to sleep. They wake me up now, although last night was a pretty good nights sleep.

Amanda, in our birth class they told us that only about 10% of all labors start with the water breaking or leaking, so try to keep that in mind, too!

I have the same irrational fear about leaking water and not knowing it...so much so that at my check-up last week, I asked to be scanned so that they could see the fluid and measure it. They did and I'm not leaking it at all, but I'm always feeling like I'm wet - she said it could even just be sweat - nice, huh?

My doc told me that it's an easy test to find out if it's amniotic fluid (I think they have like a strip or something, like a litmus test), so if you are worried, by all means - go in and get checked!

If you are going to nap, be sure to change your undies, so that you have a fresh start - LOL!!

Good luck and keep us posted!! :)

I am so excited for you.  If this is "it" I hope that things go speedily and as painless as possible. The day before my girlfriend went into labour she was over at my house visiting my 1 week old and offering to lend me her breastfeeding pillow because after all.....she wasn't due for another two weeks.  She had lower back pain and felt like something was going to fall out (this was her second baby though - she was right he was ready to fall out because she almost didn't make it into a delivery room 9 hours later :0)  Good Luck,
J

I know this will sound gross, but if you continue to leak fluid, just smell it and if it smells sweat than it's probably your fluid.

Lol, Perty you are funny....I keep telling DH he is going to be like that Flintstones episode....where Wilma tells Fred the baby is on the way, he rushes around like a madman, races to the hospital and forgets Wilma at home.  He has been hovering around me all day saying things like...."should we be timing the contractions??"  He packed videos today so we would have something to do at the hospital. (We can bring the laptop with us and watch a movie or whatever.)  It has been hillarious.  I am going to say nothing major is happening.  I think the fluid was just some heavy discharge as it seems to have stopped.  I think things have changed a bit as the contractions have increased in intensity, but I they are not really close together or anything, although more consistant then they have been.  And I still really don't feel well.  So I am going to chalk it up to getting closer, but not being there yet. I know the baby is fine because he is having a really busy day....maybe he got a good nights sleep last night as well!

its more like the moment on the movie with kevin bacon (jeez what is the name of that movie from the early 90's or late 80's?) .  he goes to take his wife to the hos and leaves her in the driveway as he speeds down the road haha.

my first, my ex said go back to sleep these things take all day.  wtf????  lol  so i shaved and showered, did laundry and got some last minute chores done.  no wonder he is an ex haha.

with addy jeff layed there in bed with the covers up to his chin and eyes wide not sure what to do scared hahaha!!!!! i had to tell him 'get out of bed we are going to the hosp now!" haha.  i wonder what the poor guy will do this time?
wake up i need to know!!!!

I think I am going to have a snooze then if I am still "leaking" go have it checked just to put my mind at ease.  One of my irrational fears is losing my fluid and not knowing it, then Ryder winds up in trouble.  I wish I had some experience here....I like the way they do it in the movies better...the women wakes up calmly with a smile on her face and gently wakes up her husband saying "its time dear".  A few hours later there is a baby and mom doesn't have so much as a hair out of place....lol.  This is nerve wracking.....I just don't know what to truly look for or expect!!  Thank God for all of you!!!

I have the same exact discharge and mine is not amniotic fluid. BUT it is also best to get checked out if in doubt.  :)

Yes it sounds like you are leaking adgal.  I'd say it's worth going and getting checked out.  They will do a swab and test to see if it is amniotic fluid or not.

GOOD LUCK HON :-)
