I'm sure there is proper protocol for disposing of them, but I just threw them in the trash.
I did not know about the safety cover and I'll check that out tomorrow. Can I just throw them out in the regular garbage then?
Oh, and also, the shots get SO much easier. I'm 2x / day now, I know where my numb spots are, it takes me, oh, 10 seconds to do and I don't even think twixe about it.
Was it a pre-measured injection? If so, once you're done and the needle is out of you, press down firmly on the plunger portion of the syringe. This action *should* activate the safety mechanism that pops a clear cover over the needle. It took me 2 weeks of injections to realize this existed! 40mg is a small dose so I don't think it would cause reactions, but I'm not a doc or pharmacist so if it keeps up you should definitely ask one of them about it.
By the way, I checked on the Heparin recall and it was by Baxter and only for certain dosages and vials. If you google it you'll find the info, but for us and our dosages (if it's similar to what you are on now should they ever switch you) it seems okay. My Heparin is not by Baxter and is not the dosage or vial style that was recalled.
yea, maybe that's it! I was stressed! it is 40? pretty small. but the drug store did not give me a sharps container. i guess i just ask them, or do i get it from the dr?
I have never had any side effects whatsoever w/ either Heparin or Lovenox, so I don't know. Sometimes the anxiety of having to give yourself a shot if you're not used to it can cause angst and side effects :0)...that happened to me my first time. What doseage?
