Progesterone drop, 1st ultrasound

Hello everyone-

I have been getting blood draws every other day and my progesterone dropped all last week. I did not ask for the number for the 1st beta, but this past week it went from 27 (M), to 24 (W), to 18 (F). My beta is rising very nicely according to my RE. And he is not worried about the progesterone. I am taking prog once a day. And my RE has me going in for bloodwork 2-3 days per week. At what point should I get nervous?

I have my first u\s next week (fingers crossed). At what point should I expect to see a heartbeat? I don't want to get my hopes up and get upset if it does not happen. I will be 6w, but I think my beta will only be 8800 (if it continues to double every 2 days).

Thanks so much.

I went for a sonogram at 5w6d and my RE told me before he even started not to get upset if we didn't see a heartbeat because it was still early and he was right we didn't see it at 5w6d.  He told me to come back in 1 week, which made me 6w6d and we were able to see the little thing flickering away.

start progesterone suposiitories ASAP

DOCSAF: are you taking suppositories?  My RE said they don't show up very well on blood draws.  that said I took 3 a day during my pg...you may want to ask if you can up it just for peace of mind.  Also you may want to ask for another blood draw.  Your placenta doesn't take over until 12 w at least

Hi there.  Your progesterone levels will fluctuate a bit, but your levels look good to me.  If your beta's are increasing properly, that is the most important thing.  I wouldn't be nervous if I were you, it sounds like things are progressing perfectly.  It always sounds like you have a very diligent RE, and that is so great to hear!!  Someone who understands your apprehension (which is very normal) and is staying on top of things.

Normally a heartbeat will start anywhere between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 weeks.  So, if you don't see a heartbeat, don't worry about it.  At this stage things happen very quickly, and a day or two can make a world of difference.  There are so many women here who did not see the hearbeat until the 7 or 8 week ultrasound and had perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies. Congrats on your pregnancy!!
