saw the sac but no baby

Hello all,
New to here I am 42 and pregnant with my 5th child. My youngest is 13 so i'm starting all over again. took hpt which told me i ws pregnant , made an appointment with Dr who sent me for blood work, which once again confirmed i was pregnant , nurse states my number were low but was pregnant. Following day went for ultra sound reg & internal. tech stated she saw the sac no baby and she believes i'm 5 weeks not 6 and we thought. I must say this is got me  worried .Has anyone  had something like this happen ?

Thank you all for your postings, sjm thank so much that does make me feel better. It's just the testing is very different now. Dh hubby thinks it's because we never went to the doctor this early ,because I generally waited until my period was a week late then it took over a week to get to see the doctor . so by that time your 7 to 8 eight weeks pregnant and there isn't any question. I guess my age is making me worry a bit because people are so concerned and risk were taking . ty all again. I really happy to have these support groups. :)

I was told that there can be a sort of delay: you thought were 6 weeks and u/s showed 5. Implantation happens between day 6 and 10 and ovulation could have been a bit later.
Normally they see a sac and fetal pole around the 6th week so be patient and try to arrange another u/s in a week or so. Take care.

my daughter is seven now and the doc told me the same thing.  I even asked him if it was too early for a baby to be seen and he doubted it.  My numbers were very low too.   The pregnancy was  normal it was just too early to see the baby like five weeks too.  Hope that is a little comforting

I think it's pretty normal to only see the sac at five weeks. The fetal pole will probably be visible in another week or so. best of luck to you!
