Have you tried an ecig? My sister used one while pregnant and it helped her quit.
It's true. You should slowly stop because the shock of going cold turkey could be bad. And I got this info from a Dr, not a smoker. Ask your Dr, and don't let anyone make you feel bad.
Sorry ima smoker I had a 8lb baby. I just slow down cos I get so sick. Very stressful.. I am on #3 and so far healthy babies.
I was a smoker for 16 years. I quit smoking at 8 weeks. I haven't had the urge to smoke at all. I gave myself a goal. So start cutting back and give yourself a goal to quit. Good luck!
Musesgirl, the only people that day its better to taper off are smokers who are having a hard time quitting. I am NOT judging you. I was a smoker until the second I found out I was pregnant. I stopped cold turkey. It wasn't even that hard knowing I would be harming my baby if I didn't. You can do it. Trust yourself and your already developing mommy instincts. That nagging guilty feeling is cause you know its not healthy.
The problem with smoking while pregnant is it reduces the size of your blood vessels, and that includes vessels in the placenta. That's why smokers have small babies - the baby's nutrition tube is smaller than it should be.
It takes a long time for those vessels to return to normal size so the sooner in pregnancy you quit the better. It's the nicotine that causes this, and so taking nicotine replacement instead of smoking won't do the baby any good - the ingredient that harms them is the nicotine.
Never heard of it while being pregnant. Maybe u can replace the urge with food bt its best u stop now because that's all tar going to ur babys little body and u have to give its lungs a chance to grow.
