There are no non-mecdication ways that have worked for me, and I've tried pretty much everything. I could "survive", but I wouldn't b abl to get anything done. Many alternative treatments require an investment of either time or money that I don't have. I can't rally just kind of "talk to my doctor": since the most likely rsponse I'd get is that I shouldn't be having a kid now anyway, plus I'm uninsured, making it an expensive hassle . .
Like justice said, always talk to your doctor about the meds you are taking if you're planning on starting a family. They will be able to give you more information.
That said, talk to your doctor about an alternative to Adderall that may be safer during pregnancy. There are so many drugs out there these days and there may be one you can take that will help your disthymia but not harm a fetus.
If there isn't, perhaps there are alternative, non-medicated ways to control your disthymia? I'm not familiar with it, so I don't know what exactly it entails. But if you could 'survive' for a year without it to have a child, the meds may be something worth giving up to start a family.
Well I was able to look up some info online BUT its always best to speak with your Dr. concerning meds while pregnancy... Sometimes the benefits outweigh the risks....
This is what i found on Adderall
FDA pregnancy category C Medication. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. It could also cause premature birth, low birth weight, or withdrawal symptoms in a newborn if the mother takes Adderall during pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Adderall can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use Adderall without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
