I have to have the shot, too. I'm B- and I get it the last day of October. I know the doctors wouldn't give it to us if it wasn't safe. I read part of my baby book that touched up on the subject and my doctor and I had a long discussion about it so I was familiar with what it was and how it worked. If u plan on having more children in the future u definitely need and want this shot. Here's some info. Kinda long but hope it helps. At delivery or during pregnancy blood cells of Rh positive baby enters our bloodstream. + blood cells invade and cause the production of Rh antibodies. Months and years later antibodies remain in bloodstream of mother. In future pregnancies Rh antibodies attack blood cells of fetus resulting in Rh disease. The shot is given to you at approx. 28 weeks and within 72 hours of delivery. This prevents the formation of those Rh antibodies. I hope this helps. It came straight out of my book. If u have any questions you need to have a discussion with your doctor. They will be able to shed more light on the situation and explain it.

Hey :b I'm O- and i got that with my son, they give you it because if the baby has a + blood group, if there's any bleeding and.baby's blood gets onto your system, your body recognises it as a foreign body and fights against the baby....you'll get one qhen baby is born, is they have + blood, I was ok my son was o- so I didn't need it. It hurts lol, and I got mine on my bum :( xxx
